proposition H was approved in San Francisco tuesday banning all handguns there. Boy I'm glad that I don't live in Kalifornia anymore. It's becoming against the law to defend yourself there. All of those poor glock 20's have to find new homes! they didn't belong in that city. The glock 20 is just to good of a gun to be there !!!!!

Any idea when this awesome law goes into full effect? As in, when is the "drop dead" date to have given your guns to LE, buried them, given them to friends, etc?

Assuming that it doesn't get overturned before it actually goes into effect I sure wish I was there to rescue some 10mm's and other great guns deserving of a good home.

Yes, San Francisco did the same thing back in 1982 and the states 1st appeals court overturned it. The NRA is also suing over the ban, saying that it conflicts with state law. The people of San Francisco voted for the ban by around 58% so don't expect an easy fight. The ban is supposed to go into effect by April 1st unless the courts over rule the new law. If the law is not overturned and you refuse to turn them in by April 1st? I wonder what they are going to do about unregistered handguns. Of course the important leftist in San francisco will all be allowed to own handguns, and have concealed carry permits. This always seems to be the high point of hypocrisy in a leftest state. I'm guessing that we will see television pictures of all the Handguns being torn up in one of those shredding machines with live pictures of the smiling faces of Diane Finesteine, Chuck Schummer and Ted Kennedy all saying what a great day this is for all Americans. Successful Lawsuits in Kalifornia to reverse gun bans? doesn't happen very often. After the 9th circuit court of appeals ruling this week in San Francisco, I'm supprised that anyone outside of the city would even care about the ban. It's Like trying to save the titantic.

Every day that sees a new gun law enacted is one day closer to when America loses it's freedoms and becomes a tyranny.

pretty damn funny to me, I was reading where that DC banned handguns 20 years ago, guess what they have the most/one of the most murderous rates in the world! and it has been on the climb since the ban....

I live about 30 miles from SF, that crap better stay over there. The way I see it, law abiding citizens won't have handguns, but thugs and hooligans will. at least they will let you still have a shotgun or riffle, so people wont be completly defenseless. Damn this state, damn it.

yeah, it's awesome that they won't let you have handguns which typically don't penetrate cover (apt walls?) and they won't let you have an AR which also pretty much stops where it lands the first time. Much better for buck shot or 12g slugs and misc high power rifles to be used for close quarters self defense! I bet the thugs in Oakland are so happy now.

Nope. DC passed their ban in 1975. That's THIRTY years ago. And they haven't learned yet.

You'd think the country would learn from DC. I had my car stolen at gunpoint in North East DC. The police never showed up, but two days later they went to pull over my car because it had no tags on it anymore. The police told me they didn't chase the guys after they got out to run because "we saw they had guns and we didn't think it was worth shooting over." When I got the car back from the police, it was also full of stolen stuff. So I started calling all the people whose credit cards and driver's licenses were in the car to give them back the stuff. It turns out that in two days, these guys had driven around the city and robbed 5 people at gunpoint. The DC police never showed up for them either. I guess the police have realized it's too dangerous in their city.

Lets also not forget the fact that Chief Ramsey had his police car stolen from his house with his riot gear (and who knows what else) in it. They still haven't found it. I emailed him shortly there after and suggested he get help from the Virginia or MD state police if he ever wants to catch the guys.

It's funny how guns are legal in MD and Virginia but not in DC, and I've only been held up in DC! You have to be nuts to go into DC anymore. I think San Fransisco may have just sealed their fate.

Your experience in DC sounded more like you were in some bad part of a third world country. Doesn't even sound like you were in a part of America.

You have never been, to D C?

There are neighborhoods that mace the "third world" seem tame.

I have not been in Washington DC since I was a child. Sounds a little different now. Makes our crack problem in rural Arizona sound tame by comparison.

Haven't you heard of the DC "Detectives" who got lasers for their Glocks? They put them on, turned out the lights, and shot THREE of their fellow officers in the next office.

Less than 100,000 votes passed the Prop. At a 42% total turnout at the polls, I wonder what the real sentiment is there. The NRA was very quiet until after it had passed and then in my morning email they were saying how they are going to fight it and it is wrong. This might have been headed off. Feel sorry for those that live up there.

This has to be overturned. It's stepping way over the line.

I think it should stand. I hope crime sky-rockets. I want the country to watch Los Angeles, San Diego, and Kalifornia fall into ruin.

I think you meant San Francisco. I had this same thought, but the trouble is that the rest of the US will follow the same precedent, same loophole, that has now worked in SF. Assuming that it works of course.

The problem is that crime will probably gradually escalate and the libs will blame something else for the increase. Probably blame surrounding counties for not banning their guns too. Then the infection will spread until its out of control. It's so hard to gain back a civil right once it's taken away. That's the problem with sitting back and watching the fireworks go.

Maybe San Francisco will declare independance from the rest of America, and it would't be our problem anymore. Nothing would suprise me about that city.Illegal for them to do this? certainly! However lets let them do it and then put a fence around the city with strict customs checks!

I think the courts will overturn it. Not necessarily because of the second ammendment, but it also violates peoples rights to due process. I don't think they can make you turn over your property without taking you to court to let a judge rule on it.

The liberal judges in San Francisco? did you hear about the 9th circuit court of appeals ruling last week? Fairness from these Judges? I don't see it happening. They legislate from the bench in courts there. It may take an act of congress to overturn this ban.

Though an act off Congress would do it, that is not where this one will end up. My prediction is simple. This one will hit the 9th Cirtuit (after being purposely pushed there by the NRA) and with that courts unconstitutional ruling will be bumped up to the Supreme Court. The 9th Circuit bias and mayhem is not present at the top and the anti groups face a great chance of losing a great deal. The NRA and other groups have the funding to see it through to the end.

One way or another, Prop H will be overturned as unconstitutional. How much damage is caused to Sarah Brady and Chuck Schumer's campaigns against the 2nd will vary depending on the route the case takes. I do not think we will hear much about this on the evening news though.

There's been some talk that Bush is looking for some way to nullify the 9th circuit court of appeals. Lets hope that he succeedes and there will be no more attempts at trying to write a new constitution from that court. This legislating from the bench will destroy our Constitution and Bill of rights if it's not stopped. Our second Amendment will completely disappear.

What a blatant slap in the face to the 2nd ammendment. It is in violation of 2nd ammendment, and it gets no simpler than that. Just when I thought the liberals in california couldnt get any worse.

You mean California isn't allowed to repeal the 2nd Amendment at will?! We'd better let them know they are violating the Constitution. Apparently they didn't get the memo.

I just looked at the Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted report from 2001 - DC, with its gun ban and population of 553,523, had more police officers killed from 1992-2001 than the whole state of Kentucky, with its "F" grade from the Brady campaign, 4,041,000 people and a very large percentage of all domestic marijuana and meth production.

I seriously don't know if I truly care about San Francisco. Although people will then say what about the next city like San Francisco. The old domino effect except with guns. If every major city becomes like Washington DC and San Francisco then what? Rural America verses the major cities full of vice and corruption? What a future.

I don't know guys it seems like it's becoming Big city America verse rural America. The large cities seem to want all of the rules and regulations on everything including guns. The future of America? Large liberal cities with no guns, morals or ethics. Rural America with guns, morals and ethics. Large cities (liberal) Rural America (conservative) Population figures for both about 50/50 Half of Americans live in large cities and the other half in rural areas. I can only see the culture wars getting much worse in this country, Especially with Hillary Clinton at number 1 right now with potential voters for a new president in 2008. There goes our Bill of rights and our Constitution.Gun rights? What gun rights. After she's done what guns.

The government here in the United States of America is one which is of the People, by the People, and for the People. It is not one that is of the elitists, by the elitists, and for the elitists. It is likewise not of the politicians, by the politicians, and for the politicians.

If the People let these elitists, and the politicians they buy, tell the People through laws that they can't have what the Constitution and Bill of Rights says is already theirs and cannot be taken away, then the People have allowed the elitists, and the politicians they buy, to change the government of the People to one that is not, by the very fact that they the people allowed that change to take place.

THE PEOPLE MUST STAND UP FOR WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY THEIRS.

If your servant becomes your master, then what?

If you have a business, and your employee comes up and says to you; "This is my business now because i say it is." Are you going to just bow down and say; "Darn, ok."???

If you do, you deserve to have it taken away!

Do you let your dog tell you how it's going to be???

Would you let your turkey chase you out of your own barn yard???

Are you going to let the criminals run the world???

This is absolutely rediculous!

STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS!!!

PISS ON THOSE THAT WOULD TRY TO TELL YOU YOU CAN'T HAVE THEM!!!

You can do it NOW, or... you can be totally ashamed of yourself after it is too late.

TELL THEM how it's going to be!

Remember, THEY ARE EMPLOYED BY YOU TO WORK FOR YOU!

I was emailed today.

The email is copied below.

L.A. and San Diego ,have lower levels of Gay boys , more military ,more reasons to pack a rigg.

If we were a separate country ,we are like the 10 - 13 largest as far in the world economy.

The uber state Kalifornia

I will not state the author's name unless he or she wants me to.

This is my reply

*********,

Ok...? I'm a little in the dark here. You'll have to be more specific about your point. I'm guessing you live in Kalifornia. If so, do you like living in a Socialist state? Did you like Grey Davis? Do you like Sen. Feinstein & Sen. Boxer? Do you like the fact you live in a state that treats gun owners like criminals? Do you enjoy living in a state that ignores the Bill of Rights? I don't give a rat's ass about the size or placement of it's economy as related to the world. China has a booming economy also. In China they still imprison Christians, just for being Christians. Your economy rank has nothing to do with being a crap hole of a place to live. Socialism is the same, Kalifornia, Red China, I don't see any difference.

As far as Los Angeles or San Diego.... Sodom or Gamorrah, take your pick, God destroyed both cities.

i don't see how one can identify as pro-choice and not respect one's choice to defend onesself by whatever means they feel necessary.

the way i see it a choice is only as guaranteed as one's ability to defend it. tyranny does not respond to begging. Dems claim to be about equality, but condemn the "great equaliser". they're just making it easier for their political opponents to accuse them of hyposcrisy.

and their allies to boot: it's a popular misnomer that all liberals are anti-gun. i and most of my friends identify as social liberals and we're all well-armed. we view it as a civil rights issue and see no conflict between our guns and our politics. quite to the contrary! it's the Dem party leadership that's sold out, and as people like myself who used to be their voting base slowly desert them (and i make sure to tell them why every chance i get), maybe they'll get a clue: equality only comes through strength.

i would tell your email buddy that rights don't need to be *justified*. his demographics are irrelevant. i'm an expatriate san franciscan and my heart sinks to see what they've have allowed to happen there. i feel like i can't go home.
