View Full Version : Installing Wilson Combat Trac Loc Ghost Ring Sights
I want to install ghost ring sights on my Remington 870. The Wilson Combat Trac Loc ghost ring sights' instructions direct you to epoxy the new sight over the original bead sight.
Has anyone here installed these sights? Is the epoxy a strong enough bond to keep the front sight attached and aligned with heavy use?
Thanks for your comments.

they apparently do it that way on the factory scatterguns too, mine has a lot of hard use and many rounds downrange and still is there
Thanks for the feedback. It is reassuring.
Interestingly, I called Wilson Combat (which bought out Scattergun Technologies several years ago) and the tech department people told me that the expoxy should work but that when they install the front sights they also drill a hole and put a roll pin through to hold the front sight on better.

I added a roll pin to both of mine just to be safe.

My local dealer refused to install because of the epoxy, so I'll be sending the 870 to Wilson in the morning.
An update:
While waiting for my Trak-Lock sight to arrive, I happend to call Vang Comp to ask some questions about sending my barrel in for accuracy work. I asked Mr. Vang whether his work should be done before or after I install the front sight. He told to go ahead and istall the sight first but to throw away the epoxy that came with the sight and to use JB Weld and to pin it.
When the sight arrived, I noticed that the expiration date on the epoxy was two months ago. My friend who did the installation used JB Weld and pinned the front sight. I think its going to hold just fine.
