View Full Version : "16, 1:9 twist .223 , need help to choose ammo
Please help me choose the right ammo for my new RRA LAR 15. This rifle will be my home and family`s defender.
Currently it sports the Hornady 60 gr. TAP FPD. Is that ok or should I get something else?
Thanks in advance.

Yup. You will be answering questions for the rest of us after you read that.

you should be fine up to about 70 grain bullets with 1/9. I prefer this twist as it will shoot almost anything well. Shoot what you have.

Yep what he said. I would stay between 55 and 69 grain.
Oh and Toolman, I have one of your lowers and it rocks. Got a RRA upper on it and the fit and finish is perfect. I think you should give me another one. PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the replies and for the link to Ammo Oracle. That is a great source of information. I,ve read it from top to bottom two times.
By the way, I`am extremelly happy with my RRA. This is a very well executed and accurate firearm with a sweet triger. Highly recomend it.
I found some additional info for 1:9 twist 16" barrel.
It looks like I just answerd my own question.
