Hi, a few months ago I asked what was a good starter bike for a big fella like me, 6ft 4in, 215lbs, and was told that an sv650s was a good choice that still looks sporty. After looking at all the local classifieds since then I have only found one for sale and it was sold the first day it was in the paper to someone else :(

So now I have started looking online and think I have found what I am looking for. Thing is the bike is in Missouri and I'm in Idaho so I can't personally check it out. So I was wondering what questions/pictures I should ask for.

This is a pic of the bike:

the only info the guy gave in the online ad was:
2001 Blue SV650S, 2780 miles, Micron Exhaust System, full fairing, runs and looks great. Asking $4000

The guy said he is willing to ship. I would like to know what I need to know about this bike before I start this deal up.

Thank you,

Craig

I'd ask;

1) Has it ever been down, crashed or tipped over?
2) Is the title clean?
3) Do you own it free and clear and is your name the only name on the title
4) Who did the maintenance on the bike?
5) Did you rejet the bike to match the higher flow of the exhaust system? If so, what kit did you use?
6) Are you the original owner?
7) Where is it stored?

Before I start with the questions, I'd kinda get a feel for the person. Do they think stunting is cool, do they sound like the person that takes care of their stuff....

have you sat on the bike you want? I collect 1 owner bikes from the 70's. I purchased a sv from FL $2500. 2003 sv650 salvage title.
the bike had bent handle bars, cracked reartail section, bent gas tank
, bent radiator, and broke mirrors. bike had 1000 miles mint condition,no frameor front end damage.good scoot. are you going to ride bike, or ride bike and woory about resaleing it . after he had 1000 miles he had enuf of scooters. Bad for him GOOD for me. I replaced mirrors ,Handlerbars and put some epoxy on plastic. Good riding bike.

Are you sure you won't consider the Suzuki V-Strom 650? A tall fellow like you will surely be cramped on that SV650.

edited cause I'm dumb and need to rethink... wow, I feel so bloody stupid right now. I thought the sv650 and the V-Strom 650 were the same thing. I got the idea off of Kelly Blue Book. I didn't see any listings under V-Strom 650 at kbb.com but they did have one under sv650 plus they both have the bigger 1000cc versions. I made what I thought to be a logical connection between the two.

Thank you fnfalman I owe you so much right now.
