View Full Version : AK modification question?
I have a modification question about an arsenal AK-47, I just don't know for sure. If anyone can help me I'll really appreciated. If I bought an Arsenal SLR 101S and have the Magazine well milled/expend to accept standard magazines, do I have to put in a US part kit to make it legal?
This is the AK I am talking about:

This is the article I read that says it has to have a US part kit to remain legal:

Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.
That gun reads like it is legal as is, all you need is 3 US made parts and if it is being imported and sold it must already have those parts in it.
So, if I buy this AK that already has the mag well expended to accept regular magazine, do I have to put 5 US parts in it? Because the seller said that he/she has already has the mag well expended but have not changed out any parts yet.
If the gun was imported into the US it should have had those parts installed already by law. But it is ultimately up to the owner to make sure. But it is not like the ATF is going to come knocking at your door to inspect the gun, I really would not worry about it.

You can go to www.TAPCO.com, buy a few of their mag followers, install them in your mags, and then every time you put in the mag with the US made follower, you have added one US part to your rifle.
I have TAPCO followers in a few of my mags and so far they have been as reliable as the followers that I removed.
You can also replace the floor plates of the mags with US made floor plates for the same results.
