Hey everyone!
Im not too fond of the "peep" style sights on ARs. I was wondering if there is any way I can get any iron sights for an AR (A2 model)? I just think I am quicker using the standard 3 dot sights rather than the current ones.
If this isnt possible, can anyone recommend the quickest way to shoot? What I am wanting to do it find the quickest and most accurate way to aim and shoot.
Thanks!
I hate to sound cliche but the best thing to do is practice, practice, practice.
IMHO, the "peep" style iron sights on the AR's are actually the best style of iron sights available.
yep, practice makes perfect.
run a few thousand thru her and you'll get better.

Both eyes open. Concentrate on the front sight post top. Squeeze. Bang. That's it. With a little practice, you don't have to aim, you just look and fire.
The only thing faster is a electronic dotscope (Aimpoint) with an iron peeop backup.

Peep sights are the best option (for iron sights) on an AR. Regular open sights, like on many American hunting weapons, flat out suck.
I still prefer optics though.

Above is all true. You CAN get a 3-dot setup for your AR. Heck, you can go 24/7 Big Dot with them if you want.
I considered it at one point. Now I see it's REALLY expensive (another 200-400, I think) and could be a PITA. The reason peep is so popular is that it uses the eye's natural ability to center something within a circle - without thinking about it. With a battle-sight (the bigger hole), I never even SEE the rear sight. It blurs out so much it practically disappears.

Peeps are the greatest thing since sliced bread. The Army was kind enough to teach me to use them 35 years ago, and I've loved 'em ever since.
As eyes get older and less cooperative, the peeps become an even better proposition; I can't SEE an open rear sight any more.
Take your time and get a good zero with the small peep at 50 yds. If you are plinking at smaller targets, you may well wish to keep using the small aperture; the big hole is a battle sight, good from a belt hold out to 300 yards.
Good luck,

You'll get used to the peep. After awhile you'll love it. They really are good sights.

You'd be better off to put peep sights on your other guns instead of taking them off the AR. :)
