View Full Version : 9mm Barrel for a G22?
Are these worth getting and is it 100% ok/safe to do?
I think this would be a cheaper way for me to have a 9mm and target shoot.
conversion (http://www.allglock.com/viewproduct.aspx?idproduct=43152)
Is this all you have to do is put the new barrel in and go shoot?
Thanks

A conversion barrel and some G17 mags are all you'd need for a plinker.
There are cheaper conversion barrels than the storm lake one... might want to consider that instead.
What do you reccomend for a cheaper barrel?
Do you have a link I could check out?
Thanks
I order 9MM conversion barrel here. I have had no problem with federal barrels in the past.

Plinkster? Would you not trust this in other ways like as a CCW while using the 9mm conversion?
Thanks

Not speaking for SD but if the question's open, I'd answer with a no. Glock makes their barrels and their guns in general to fairly loose tolerances by industry standards. The idea is to avoid seizing, binding, jamming and otherwise untimely issues that may prevent the gun from going bang when you need it the most. IF I were even going to consider trusting a conversion barrel in a CCW, I'd change out the extractor and ejector and put one H of a bunch of rounds through it to verify. Even then, I doubt I'd roll those dice.
10-4 I didnt know they are or could be that far out of wack to be trusted.

I have two shooting partners that have had 100% reliability with their 9mm conversion KKM barrels,9mm extractors, ejectors and 9mm mags.If the 9mm extractor tention is still a bit loose, the area on the inside front of the extractor that contacts/stops on the inside of the slide can be filed/stoned just a tad to bring it in closer to the case rim, creating more tention.
Thanks Guys,'
Since I got a little nervous over the conversion I just got back from ordering a new G17 with night sights, it will be here Tuesday.

KKM Barrel $150
9mm extractor $20
Trigger assy housing with ejector $20
Two 9mm mags $50
Total $240
Why not just another 9mm Glock instead and have two guns ?

CG,
Good pic,and good advise.I do beleive that many of the guns sporting 9mm conversion barrels that have some extraction/ejection fumbles, have week tention from the extractor on the case rim.Another factor to remember is that the barrel's don't have a nice tight custom fit, they usually have a fare amount of side play which can effect dependability if the extractor doesn't have proper tention.
Glockbuster,
The parts can be purchased for much less from folks like Topglock or lonewolf.
Here are some average prices:
Storm Lake Barrel $100
Mag $20 (2) $40
Trigger housing(with ejector) $6
9mm extractor $18
Total: $164

Thx Glock-N-Fun you are right, but on a different note I´d just get another gun and not bother with all the mods.

GB,
I can't say i don't disagree with that either, because i have plenty of 9mm model glock's..hehe.But the 9mm conversion kit's really can be put together fairly cheap compared to buying a complete gun,and can be made to be very reliable.

That´s for sure, BTW, we just did a mod here with a Storm lake ported 9 mm barrel for a G35, worked beautifuly! that gun in that config hardly has any muzzle flip.
