New to the Black Rifle

I don't even have the whole thing yet, but I fugured I'd jump in anyway.

I never had a good experience with the AR-being left handed I always got hit with brass, which wasn't fun. Some folks said to get a lefty model, but it always seemed too expensive, and besides, I never saw one in left handed configuration.

I went to a gun show yesterday and just happened to see a lower assembly for $200. The money jumped out of my pocket on it's own! So now I owned a Stag lower. It was sort of neat, and I didn't feel like I spent too much at the show.

I still didn't know about the left hand stuff though. When I got home I went on line- to AR15.com, and of course, here, and took a crash course in these things.

Today I ordered a Stag left hand upper assembly from Eagle. It should be here by the end of the week. I'm looking forward to shooting this on Sunday.

I never knew there were so many ways to fool with these things, what with all the add ons and different parts and accessories. I can see this is going to be a long term problem for me in the future.

The AR-15 is about as modular as a rifle platform can get. Stag offers good value for the money and is very lefty-friendly. You'll be hooked for life -- another victim of BRD (black rifle disease).

I've got several hundred plus rounds through an AR or M4 (real one with happy switch, not a civvie) in lefthanded use, including in some tight positions clearing doorways/hallways, and never got hit with my own brass. The brass deflector works just fine. Now getting hit by OTHER people's brass doesn't count... :)

Sorry to hear about your affliction. I have 2.5 black rifles (will be a full 3 in about a week or so) and hope I get well soon.

Yahoo!! I put it together today, along with an ambi-safety. Everything fits great and looks great. I can't wait to get out and play with it this weekend.
