View Full Version : Slide lock spring failure
FWIW My G19 has about 4K trouble free rounds through it. Last weekend at a shooting class, we had fired about 200 rounds. They wanted us to use the Slide stop lever to release the slide. I did this and my slide ended up 5’ downrange. I was shocked. The slide lock spring sheared off at the 90-degree angle, where it seats in the frame. It’s a two-dollar part and only took 5 min to replace. Keep a spare in your range bag.
same thing happened to me. Luckily there was a glock armorer at a gun show I went to the next day and like you it cost me $2.00. Got a little garbage from my buddy about indestructible glocks. Good idea to keep a spare. TJ

Did your G19 happen to have the older "wasp-waisted" slide lock spring? I've seen one G19 break this spring at the range. When I examined the remains, I could see that the spring narrowed at the middle (this spring does not narrow in my G19 or any other of my Glocks).
For the record, I've had this spring fail in only one Glock, my G30--and it has happened three times! In each case, I was unaware of the problem--that is, the gun was not disabled--until I either noticed the slide lock lever on the bench or pulled the trigger on an empty chamber.
Would this be the sanme part that causes my 19 to not always keep the slide locked open after the last round?
Berry,
no it is the spring that holds the thingy (slide lock) you pull down to take the slide off to field clean.
Gary,
My G19 is SER FAX8xx
I never looked at the spring as I never knew it to be a problem. After changeing shot 600 more trouble free rounds.
