muzzle brake and CX4

I have a beretta CX4 carbine (9mm) that I would like to have a muzzle brake added.
Will a muzzle brake for a 9mm barrell (ie a AR15 in 9mm) fit?
What should I be searching for in terms of finding a brake that would be able to be fitted to this weapon?

Not sure what a brake would do. I think most of the recoil id due to blow back action.
