RMTactical 11-16-2005, 18:51 I'd take a hard look at DPMS, that is who I will most likely end up going with. With the Armalite, it seems like you have a 50-50 chance of getting a decent one vs a sucky one. Boeman 11-16-2005, 19:31 I concur. I have heard nothing but good about the dpms 308s. I too will probably pick one up one day. AR's4u 11-18-2005, 05:39 I have transfered 5 DPMS 308's this year for customers. They are all VERY happy with the rifles, and the price. All shoot sub-moa groups with good ammo, and function flawlessly. FYI, I transferd 3 Armalites one year ( a few years ago) for 3 local COPS. All were a POS, even after MULTIPLE trips back to Armalite. All were sold for a considerable loss. Not sure how things are going now for Armalite, but there were certainly some issues. Just a note: One of the COPS bought the Eagle Arms parts ( Armalite), built his own, and is very happy. Only one issue popped up, and that was the fact that the upper and lower fit so poorly that they almost appeared to be from different types of firearms. I've had it for about 2 years now and run a ton of ammo through it; Port and Aussie surplus, handloads and factory ammo. I recently had an issue with an extractor spring getting weak and dropping an empty in the chamber every once in a while and a call to Armalite had one in my mailbox in just a couple of days. It's back to running 100% now. Hope to take a whitetail with it tomorrow. http://photos.imageevent.com/brobert/ar15/websize/ar10.jpg Skintop911 11-18-2005, 19:07 KAC, Armalite, then the others. glockmeister71 11-18-2005, 22:18 I've got a DPMS like this one http://www.dpmsinc.com/10Expand.asp?ProductCode=RFA2-308AP4 and I love mine. crazymoose 11-19-2005, 00:46 I've heard from all who shoot them that .308 DPMS rifles will shoot groups like a good bolt gun can. Decguns 11-19-2005, 09:26 I've heard the DPMS rifle is hard to beat. I'll probably pick one up next year (if I can find one). glockmeister71 11-19-2005, 16:35 If you can find one is right. When my dealer checked to get me one,DPMS said it would be 8-12 weeks.I ended up getting one off of www.gunsamerica.com for $995. GhostFace 11-20-2005, 02:58 I suggest Armalite. I've got two that run like a top. If I could afford it I would get a carbine. aubie515 11-20-2005, 08:26 I own the 18" version and I couldn't be happier with my purchase....everything you all have heard is true. I haven't even reloaded for my LR, but it has 5 & 10 round groups touching with various factory loads. The best part is I only paid $800 for the rifle. This rifle shoots as good as my bolt rifles...don't even give it another thought...buy one and enjoy it for years. Dave S 11-20-2005, 18:46 Love my 10(T) and A4 so much........every once in awhile I kick the wife out of bed. I only take one at a time. Thank you, Jim;e sarge 11-26-2005, 09:11 Jimmy, It's just a Simmons AETEC 3.8x12x44AO scope in an Armalite mount. The scope is sold locally for $140. It does just fine for what I use it for. Jimmey 11-26-2005, 18:17 Sarge thanks for the quick reply, regards Jim vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
