View Full Version : Are all FTF mag related
I think I read somewhere that all or most FTF issues were mag related. Is this true?
Lots of things can cause Failure to Feed malfunctions. Mags is just one. Extractor tension, ammo OAL and shape, ramp and throat of the barrel, chamber dimensions, breechface smoothness, weak springs, and more can all cause feeding problems.
Knowing what the FTF looks like helps narrow down the possible causes. Mags is the easiest to diagnose..........just try different ones and keep shooting.

Please note that failure to feed and failure to go to/return to battery are often related, but they are NOT the same.
If the round enters the chamber...even a little...it's not a failure to feed. It's a falure to go into battery. A failure to feed means that the round stops before it gets into the chamber, and the magazine is only one issue to look at.
