I have a G24c (early model) that I rarely shoot. Why, because the ports face forward for the 24c unlike the sideways porting of the other Glocks.

Anyways, after less than a magazine full of ammo my front sight has turned pitch black from the ports blasting the front sight.

I don't have this problem with my G19c.

What can I do to keep the G24c front sight from turning black so quickly. A non-ported G24c barrel is out of the question.

Thanks

Just a suggestion...

Put a black serrated front sight on the gun, then you have no white dot to worry about. (Heinie or AroTek is what I use)

I had this problem too and decided to try one of these sights. Now I can't stand having those white dots on the sights.

My plastic sight on my G24C practically melted after a marathon break-in session. I just took it off alltogether and used a J-Point sight.

I agree. Why not a non-ported barrel? If its the cost, I agree with cmzneb to get a all black sight anyway. I tried a fiber optic front on my G35 (actually came with the gun) but I went to all black sights. I can shoot more accurately and I get a crisper sight picture from black-on-black sights than something with a dot.
