View Full Version : 1911 ejector
Ok guys..... This is probably simple but I have to do 3 of them so I figured I would check and see if there was an easy way. I have to replace ejectors in three 1911's. One mineand 2 of my dads. One broke completely (Colt Factory) and the other two are coming loose (Kimber and Colt factory). How do I replace them. I have 3 Wilson Comabat Extractors on order. Thanks guys...
Here ya' go....

Do you want to replace the ejector or the extractor? There's a difference here. The ejector is the little fin mounted on the top of the receiver in between the magwell and the hammer, that punches the shell casing out of the gun. The extractor is the spring steel piece that sits in the slide, just to the right of the hammer, running forward up to the breech face. It actually grabs the rim of the shell casing and holds it to the breech face. Replacing the extractor is easy, tuning it is another story. It might take some time to get the tension on it just right so it works properly. With Wilson's though, they should be good to go, out of the box. Good luck. I'm no authority on this subject, I've just played around with 'em some. I'm sure there are others who could better answer your question of how to do it.
