I read on 2 different threads on ARF that it weighs 17 oz then 31 or so oz.
That's a HUGE difference. Anyone have that bit o'knowledge tucked in their heads? Or have one and knows that there's no way it weighs nearly 2 lbs?
I'm still torn between a VLTOR and a Magpul. So this might be the deciding factor.

Not sure, but both of your choices weigh pretty heavily on the pocketbook.

What kind of balance are you looking for?
Something else to consider, if you can wait, the 93 series has been discontinued, and Magpul is supposed to be coming up with a replacement which hopefully will be cheaper.
I really really like my M93. It's heavier than an A2 stock, but I don't think by much

I had not heard that they were disco'ing the 93's.
I know they have the PRS in production. That's more of sniper-style stock - and is REALLY REALLLY heavy. THat'll run 2lbs easy.
Cheaper would be nice. I'm not 100% sold on teh Magpul. Heck, I could go hog-wild and get an LMT SOPMOD. LOL

10) Weight -Please note that listed weights do include a carbine buffer and spring. I should also mention that some shooters consider having a heavier stock a good thing because it helps to balance the weapon better. To quote Richard Fitzpatrick, "It's better to have a balanced rifle that weighs 9 lbs. than an unbalanced one that weight 7 lbs."
MagPul M93A - 17 oz.
Thats from the link I gave you.

I can't see it weighing more than 17oz. I'm sure it weighs more than a typical 6-position, but I really haven't noticed the weight difference.

I have that link. And elsewhere on ARF, it says it weighs 1lb 15 oz. I'm trying to get a real-person confirmation.
I've got one, but I don't have a scale. I seriously doubt it's 2 pounds.
My experience with the Magpul is it is solid as a rock. That being said the buttplate wasn't comfortable IMO. Probably works well with vest and plates, but I dont need that.
By far the most comfortable stock I have shot is the LMT SOPMOD. The Vltor is up there as well. I went ahead and spent the cash on the LMT.
I have a Magpul M93 on one of my carbines and really like it. It's rock solid and provides a great cheek weld. I don't find it heavy per se. (I also like the Vltor I have on another carbine).
My opinion, but M-4s/AR carbines only start getting "heavy" when people hang stuff all over them that they don't really need for their particular situation or mission.
Your rifle always needs a good solid stock, and the M93 is just that.

VLTOR w/ tube= 10 oz.
M93 w/ tube= 17 oz.
A2 w/ tube= 17 oz.
I have no figures, but the SOPMOD is supposed to be about 17 oz. as well.
Remember depending how you have your AR set up you may want more weight on the rear... it usually makes the AR better balanced
