View Full Version : Norinco 1911A1 vs G35 boholglock 11-20-2005, 20:19 pls help me decide. thanks. Brian Dover 11-20-2005, 22:07 It will help us to give opinions if you tell us what kind(s) of shooting the gun will be used for. FLIPPER 348 11-20-2005, 22:18 Have you ever owned a 1911 before??................go with the Norinco, you will know why after the deal! quantico 11-23-2005, 11:41 I built my own custom on a new in box norinco that I purchased. I think it turned out ok. The norinco was 100 percent out of the box, and still is. I think you would be well served by the norinco. http://photobucket.com/albums/y43/fbigovusa/nor1.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/y43/fbigovusa/nor2.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/y43/fbigovusa/nor4.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/y43/fbigovusa/nor5.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/y43/fbigovusa/nor6.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/y43/fbigovusa/nor7.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/y43/fbigovusa/nor8.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/y43/fbigovusa/nor9.jpg boholglock 11-23-2005, 20:05 Brian, Flipper & Quantico, Thanks for the inputs guys! You surely have a good looking piece, Quantico (nice pixs). How much more do I need to shell out to get that look. Hehehe. But seriously, how good(accuracy and reliability considered)was the Norc out of the box (before you enhanced it).I'm very curious because I've narrowed my choices to these two. Again thanks a lot for your advice. They are all well appreciated. quantico 11-24-2005, 01:52 Originally posted by boholglock Quantico , How much more do I need to shell out to get that look. Hehehe. But seriously, how good(accuracy and reliability considered)was the Norc out of the box (before you enhanced it). The cost was more in time and learning than cash... although if I remember correctly I added about 1400 dollars , maybe a bit more to the stock norinco... I did put all top of the line parts in the gun and added expensive sights and trigger parts and finish... I also set up the gun for two barrels and purchased many spare parts that I also had finished ... along with many new wilson mags ..... trust me when I say that that look could have been done a lot cheaper... The norinco was 100 percent reliable before and after the build.. it has never failed even once. I could have taken the thing from the box right into combat and felt that I had a great pistol. The issues that I did not like were that the sights and the bullet did not hit at the same spot. The gun needed a much much taller front sight to hit point of aim. The grouping of the gun was not amazing when new either... about a 8 - 10 inch group at 25 yards with winchester white box... The gun is still not a tack driver , but it is maybe down to 5-6 inches at 25 yards.. that is good enough accuracy for carry and training new shooters and IDPA games ... the gun is my backup gun for IDPA at this point, with an Ed Brown as my primary gun. I use higher end custom stuff for IPSC use.. The norinco worked great out of the box, had zero failures... and is made of excellent steel... for an entry level 1911... what else counts ??? the stock trigger pull was also not bad ... boholglock 11-24-2005, 03:37 quantico thank you sir! Hermo Gut 11-24-2005, 08:12 Hi Boholglock, saw your post at Band of Glockers. If you're not particular with brand name and where the piece was made, I'd say go for the Norinco 1911 and get the factory enhanced model (tighter fit and better finish). You'll find the Norinco very reliable out of the box though the quality of finish is not as good.Glocks are good no questions about it but if you intend to learn more about pistol anatomy and the tinkering that goes with it then the 1911 will serve you better. Economywise, you could buy 2 Enhanced 1911 Norincos for the price of one Glock (any model) here in the Phils. Also, in the ammo category the .45cal. wins in terms of provincial availability/cost compared to .40cal.(factory or reload). Anyway, I think in the near future you'll have both since you'll be wanting another one and another one after the purchase. You'll later find yourself to be another GUN NUT ;f .;) boholglock 11-24-2005, 22:11 thanks Hermo Gut. you surely hit tha nail dead on the head. honestly, i'm totally mixed up. thanks for clearing up the issues for me. Do you have the factory enhanced norc? tell me more about it? Is it a whole lot better that the standard issue? does it justify the enhancement over getting abarebone and enhancing it? Quantico spent another $1400 to work up his standard piece. that being said, the GLOCk seems cost effective. hehehe. Again thanks Pare. Hermo Gut 11-25-2005, 06:35 Ahh the Norinco. Yes, I have two Norks, the Factory Enhanced and the Cavalry model. Cavalry Model - looks like the GI model except for the beavertail grip safety and the lowered ejection port. Also, this model has no made in China marking on the frame, only the word FORGED STEEL (leftside) and serial no.(rightside).No logo on the slide.Outside machining work is better than the regular Nork model but finish is just the same.Fitting resembles the true GI model.Very reliable out of the box and shoots nice grouping at 7 yards.Cost, around Php16T Factory Enhanced Model - this one has few added whistles on it.The gun sports front slide serrations, serrated flat top slide, lowered ejection port, extended magrelease button (stainless), one piece rubber grips with Nork logo, Novak style rear sight, better blue finish, and tighter fittings(frame/slide/barrel).Very reliable out of the box and shoots tighter groups than my Cavalry model.Price, arnd Php 20T. Factory Enhanced Police Model - same as the enhanced model but with ambi safety, one piece SS recoil rod, and polished throated barrel/frame ramp.Sells at arnd Php 22T. With the enhanced model, all you need is a good trigger job, that's it. Please don't get me wrong I have also other pistolas in my arsenal (HK, Walther, Colt, Para, Jericho, etc.), but for the price & material quality (steel) Norincos are hard to beat. ^c Hope nakatulong ito.;) boholglock 11-25-2005, 19:33 it would seem that building up a barebone milspec norc is more expensive than getting the police enhanced model. of your 3 Norcs, which one group shots better? Hermo Gut 11-26-2005, 04:48 I have only two Norinco 1911. The factory enhanced model shoots tighter groups. The addition of one piece recoil guide rod would further smoothen racking action (feel). BTW, your forum name tells your probable inclination to Glock. I prefer the G17, the model that started it all.Get both and be happier.Safe shooting. :) Glolt20-91 11-27-2005, 15:15 http://www.m1911.org/ (http://) I also belong to the above forum and the Norincos have their own section with several posters from the Philippines. You may want to give them a try also. :) Adios, Bob vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
