Please!...not a place to knock another guy's bike - there's enough of that elsewhere here. Just let's see what you're riding.

Here's mine...

My bike is a 2003 Kawasaki ZZR1200 that I bought new as a dealer leftover in Feb of 2005. The color is Pearl Mystic Black, which looks black until light or the sun hits it just right and then you can see the a dark blue metalflake in the paint.

The Vince can and new airfilter K&N took the SV to the next level.
Imagine the performance graph moving left to right at a 45 degree angle. Move up an inch and the pipe and filter helped that much.
same graph. but better. Not Noisy enuf to bother anyone until 6000 rpms or more, and that is for the open road ,not in city. I Recommend
leo Vince all the way. Light as a feather and Outstanding install directions. Good Luck and Ride Safe.

I'd love a Leo Vince exhaust. I don't have the money right now, though.

I wanted to clean my SV up; the factory mirrors were darn near worthless and the bars hurt my wrists. I'm much more comfortable and have a much better field of view through my mirrors now.

Your son's bike is fuel injected, judging by the frame. With the new filter & exhaust, did you have to get a power commander? Also, did you de-snorkel the intake?

I'm trying to find as much info about that stuff as possible before I do anything with the intake/exhaust, and I'm finding mixed answers.

I did not have to do anything to EFI system / intake was de-snorkeled. Just plug and play. Performance was worth the change.
And the exhaust note will not call police for late night riding!^c

Cat, I've ridden it to work a couple of times. I work in South Richmond, so it's a 78 mile one way trip. I take back roads and RT-1 most of the way and jump on 95 usually either at Parham road, or Brook Road, so it's just a short run to the other side of the James for me.

The Majesty has no trouble crusing at highway speeds. I've had it to 75, with a lot of RPM's left over. I just don't like driving on 95 period, so I avoid it as much as I can. On RT-1, it's a delight.

I'm old, and in no hurry.

That is a nice looking bike Hercules.

They're not too bad, but that's part of the reason I don't ride on 95 any more than I do. The bike weighs 463 lbs, so it's no lightweight. I just wish it would warm up just a tad more than the last few nights. ;f

Those DR650s are a great bike. I grew up riding dirt bikes, but when I bought my DR I had been riding 4 cylinder sport bikes. The DR was neat because it is essentially a motorcycle stripped down to its basic components so it was refreshing and light weight. These bikes, with the right tires, also get down a twisty road in a hurry. The twistier, knarlier, bumpier the better the DR will do compared to other bikes.

I also did a lot of rough, backwoods camping trips with mine. I put 25,000 miles on it the first year I had it. :)

Speaking of customized V-Max, last week I ran into an older British gentleman who rode a well tricked out Mr. Max. Supercharged AND NOS. Upsidedown front fork with custom fabbed triple clamps, lengthened swingarm, FJR1200 rear shock, carbon fiber accents on the tank and Jardines dual exhaust. I was pissed because I didn't bring my camera with me.

Mine only has 1,000 miles in 3 years (no time but soon it will get a workout as we build our rural home and we have access to a huge forest full of trails behind it) That reminds me I need to hook up the battery tender, today.

The only problem for road use is the tiny front tire and anything wet or slippery ;P It also does not stop well since I'm 220 lbs. But otherwise it is a joy to run close range errands on, so much that I have a quick detach plastic milk crate for the rear rack. I also have a handlebar mount for my SS mini 14. it has a gel seat but I'm not good for more than 30 minutes on it at a time.. painful

But knowing how the market goes, it'd probably never make it to the US like the MT-01. We never get any cool stuff.

With how well the 'Max sells in the USA, it will most assuredly be imported here.. the old model will be discontinued and Yamaha will (badly) need to recover the R & D and tool-up costs!
