"External Extractor a Thing of the Past?
I saw dozens of new Kimbers in all shapes and sizes at a large gun show yesterday. Took me a while to realize I saw only one or two external extractors in them.

Saw at least six Ultras of different cosmetic treatments with internal extractors.

I find it difficult to believe these were all new-old-stock pistols. Dealers only comment was "this is how they come from the distributor."

Anyone with secret handshake knowledge on this?

I have a friend at Kimber ( lets keep that quiet) he stated.

At the request of the military and Police departments who order Kimber pistols. They would like an internal extractor. Police departments feel it is easy to repair and maintain.
Kimber is trying to please them.

Please do not panic the guns with external extractors are still well made and the one's I see function 100 percent.

PS I have nothing but good things to say about my custom II, it has an external extractor and it performs perfect.


All future models from kimber will be internal...

BTW, there is also talk of Kimber going back to the series 70 design, but that is really, really based on speculation.

I thinkm the warrior is a 70's design and the raptor also is internal.

My eclipse is internal also. maybe I just got lucky
