View Full Version : G19 or G30 ?
Need some input on which model to get next, I keep looking at a 3rd gen G19 and see lots of advantages. However, the G30 has great fire power for a small package. I'm usually a 9mm type of guy and like the .45 ACP also. I always want to buy a pistol to CC., so with that being said please end this dillema! Oh, I currently have a G26 being sent to me.....
;Q
If you have a 26 I would go with the 19 because magazines for the 19 can be used in the 26.
I love my 19 and find I shoot better with the 9mm, and faster too, than I do with the 45. The 19 is a little slimmer too, which aids in concealability. Ammo for the 19 is cheaper, hence you get to practice more too. As far as the 45 being the ultimate manstopper, don't believe it. Both the 9mm and 45 acp are marginal as far as stopping ability and with today's modern defensive ammo the 9mm is right up there with the best 45 acp ammo.
I have and carry a Glock 36 or a 19. I don't feel undergunned with either one. Good luck and happy carrying.

If they both fit your hands well, you can't go wrong with either one.
The advantage to the G19 would be compatability with your G26. One holster will fit both, the mags from the G19 can be used in the G26, and most internal parts should be swappable.

Those are two of the best glocks. You have to get them both.

WoW, I did not know that the G19 will fit G26 holsters? Maybe I ought to get the G19 1st then the G30, it destined to happen anyway. Thanks for input...I also like the idea of the G19 having a light rail for your home defense in bedroom, and then being able to carry it during the day without it being unattended.

As long as they are open bottom G26 holsters the G19 will fit in them. Some holsters are tapered or closed at the bottom and in those cased the G19 will not fit in the G26 models.
And the G26 will fit into any G19 holster, it just won't go all the way to the bottom.

I have a G26, a G23 with an additional Federal 9mm barrel, and the G30 with grip reduction shown. I love the G30 but if I could have only one pistol it would be the G23 with the Federal 9mm conversion barrel. The pistol is accurate with BOTH barrels.

sorry, here's the picture of the G30 with grip reduction.
I have tried those 3 main calibers (.45/40S&W/9mm) and ended up with the 19 and it is my favorite. Ammo is non expensive, great defense rounds and my wife can use it without problems. I think my next buy will be a 26 but so far the 19 takes the cake.
In less than a month, I have fired more than 500 rounds and the only problem was the followers and a specific brand of ammo (GD 147gr).
I've owned both, but I still have the 19.
Nothing wrong with the G30, other that it being a bit thick.
In conclusion, buy both. Just get the 19 first. ;)

Seems very close to that of my G23. It is not pretty but it feels great. Why he did not do the back the same I do not know.

My G19 has always been my favorite Glock. When I got the G30 that all changed. The G30 is so accurate and smooth, it's a SUPER weapon IMO. I have so much fun with my G30 that I shoot all of my .45ACP ammo up first, before I even shoot my 9mm's, my favorite caliber. I am not saying I like my G30 better but just like it better for the moment. I am getting a P245 to keep my G30 company. Of course the G21 is on the horizon also. The G19 is still the ultimate Glock IMO. Light, slim compared to the .45ACPs, very accurate and cheap to shoot. Can't beat the overall package of the G19. Just glad I have both. Get either of these compacts.

I just got my G19 two weeks ago. I have been carrying it every day, all day, in a Blackhawk CQC Serpa holster, and it is so lightweight and comfortable that I forget it is there. I really like the holster, too. I wear it on my strong side hip, and it does print a little. However, the weather here is very mild, so I can wear a light jacket for concealment and look perfectly natural.
As far as shooting, the gun is a dream. Very easy to control, recoil management is not a problem at all. Groups very respectably at 15 meters, and I have no problem keeping them all in the K5 from 25 meters. I love this gun.
I bought it to replace my issued M9. It is a night and day difference. Love it.
Either way, you can't lose. Good luck with your search, and if in doubt BUY 'EM ALL!!!!!
I've owned and shot a 21, 26 and 30. All are great guns. The 30 was built in Area 51;e but is a bit thick. A couple of weeks ago I bought a 19 and it is BY FAR the BEST handgun I have ever owned. And unlike a typical Glock, it even looks like what, IMHO, a gun is supposed to look like.
My 26 was a little small and my 30 was a little big but my 19 is just right. So, I named her "Goldi-Glocks". The 30 is a dream machine but is best for the range, the night table and cold weather (so you can cover it).
You will LOVE the 19. Then you can go buy the 30. Put a 33 round mag in and have some fun!! Since you will have a 19 and a 26 all you need to do is buy a KelTec Sub 9mm carbine that takes the same mags. You can get one NIB for around $250 and they are F-U-N!!

I have owned many Glocks. I have sold many Glocks.
The G30 I own is my favorite Glock and the one I can shoot most accurate as a big smile comes to my face.
For whatever reason I can not shoot the G19 very accurately, but the G26 I can shoot accurate. The trigger is not as good as the G30 even after swapping out parts same as the G30. Since you have the accurate G26 on the way ------- The G30 now has the rail too-------
I would tell you to get the BIG DAWG-----G30!;W
Could not resist, next one will be G19!!!!
