Kimber Custom II -or- SW1911
I'm in the market for my first 1911, and I've kind of narrowed my search down to these two. The price is the same for either, but I think the SW might be an older (still NIB) model 'cause it has the billboard logo on it. The SW is the stainless, standard sight model, and the Kimber is the blued, standard sight model.I would appreciate any advice and opinions you guys have.

are you sure you cant have both? ;f
other than that I can say that both have detractors but KImber probably has more. My Kimber Pro Elite II has been steller with wilson 47D mags and stunk with the stock mag.
Sure you can't have both?

I had a custom II and loved it. Never ever had a problem. I did buy the Wilson mags though. I now have a gold match and even though it's a great gun, I have not found an equal to the custom II. I should have kept it. It shot wherever you aimed it, every time.
I have several nice 1911s including a Kimber, but this is my favorite of them all:

Since you say the kimber is a Custom "II" that's easy. Smith all the way!;a

catbird,
That is a very nice looking piece. Where did you get the grips?

Thank you. The grips are manufactured by 'Carbon Creations' and were purchased from Brownells.

I prev had a Kimber, but it ONLY worked with the stock mags - no other brand.
I am contemplating getting a S&W next time myself...
