Been done. I think, like the Colt Series 80 system, you'll need a spacer to take up the room vacated by the components removed from the frame. You probably can figure out everything you need from the link.

No additional spacer necessary. Remove the rear sight and the spring and plunger can be removed from the slide. The grip safety-activated plunger can be left in the frame and probably should be as it acts as a spacer of sorts.
Mine caused a failure to return to battery when the gun got a little bit dirty, so I removed the Series II firing pin safety crap.

I've never tried it myself, but I've read in several threads over the years that Kimbers series II can be disabled simply be replacing the firing pin with a true series 70 design pin. I guess Kimber anticipated that you may want to by pass it because I hear their rear sights are a real bear to get off so you can remove the parts.

I had heard the same thing about the firing pin, but do you really want to take chances with the tool you use to defend your life and the lives of your family? The easy way is rarely the right way...
Replacing the Kimber firing pin with a Series 70 prevents the plunger in the slide from blocking the FP. There is no cutout on the 70 FP to catch the plunger so the plunger just rides on the fat part of the pin.
The reason Kimber fixed sights are so hard to get off is that they do indeed use a press to put them in. There is no draconian thinking to them doing this, it's mass production and its faster than drifing in sights.
To completely remove the safety, you can remove the plunger and spring from the slide. If you take the time to look, you'll see the push rod is in it's own milled part of the frame so there is no place to put a spacer in. You can cut the rod part of the push rod and leave the bottom on the sear pin if you choose to do this. While rare, I've heard of a case where the top of the sear would get caught in the milled part of the frame on the right side where the push rod goes.
I don't know why you would want to remove the Series II safety but the easiest way is to just defeat it with the FP change. That way you can put it back easily if you sell decide to sell the gun and it will be stock.

I havent had a problem with the darn thing "yet" but wish it didnt have that series II unsafety.
If I had known more about 1911's when I got the gun I wouldnt have accepted a series II and would have insisted on a series I or another make.
I might trade it on a Kimber Warrior (?)
