Yesterday I put a G19 on layaway. Well before making the choice, I handled a P99c AS in 9mm. The is very comfortabe, and it points good for me. I was just curious as to what the owners have say about the Anti-stress trigger? Is $600 a bit high? I forgot the place that was offering these at a good deal at like $430ish or so? Is it easy to get extra magazines and various holsters for this model?
I just got my P99c AS last month. $480 out the door. I have been looking around on the Net and have had trouble finding many holsters. Magazines are available but they aren't cheap.:(
Matches
They are not listed but I called FIST and they make a holster for it.

Yes, that is rather hihgh. I paid $515 for mine. But, I did see a full size P99QA today for around $600 at Gander Mountain today!
I love the AS. But, to be honest, if ya want something comparible to the G19, you should get the full size P99 A/S...

I paid $440+tax and $40 for an extra mag. If you don't already own a GLOCK get the g19 first.

CDNN Investments in Abilene,TX if still in inventory was selling for $429.99 + shipping (You can download their latest catalog at: CDNN Investments (http://www.cdnninvestments.com)). They have both flat based and finger tip based 10 rounders for $19.99 each. Holsters are very limited but there are some options. I suggest you search: WaltherForums.Com. For inside-the-pocket carry the Uncle Mike's Size 4 works fine for me.

I find the AS trigger has too many modes for CC. As a range gun its fine.
Trigger modes AS: DA long, DA short, SA plus a decocker.
Trigger modes QA: Only one not decocker (except for disassembly).

I disagree. Just pull the trigger :p
Sometime I carry it cocked, and sometimes not. I like the ability to have it SA w/ the longer pull on the 1st shot. But, after having the gun a week or so, it's real easy for a newcomer to get it, IMHO...
I do the same, decocked on the first shot, the change to SA is fine if you just practice that way at the range.

"Tell you what I do like though. A killer. A dyed in the wool killer! Cold-blooded, clean, methodical and thorough. Now a real killer, when he picked up the ZF1, would have immediately asked about the little red button on the bottom of the gun."
Just pull the trigger.

Only need to decock if you are done w/ the gun.
It's no different then a gun w/ a traditional hammer. Cock the gun if you like. Or, have the first shot DA. To lower the hammer safely, U "decock" the gun.
Only difference is the two types of single action pulls.

I realize, and I dont like it. I dont like the transition of DA/SA and I dont like more than one mode of operation.

Yes, Yes, and Yes, . . . Don’t be fooled . . . The “AS” Trigger is one great system . . . it allows varied first pull options, it transitions to a lighter pull which lends to enhanced accuracy and then allows faster follow-up shots as one more commonly outstanding Walther bonus!
I'll select the “AS” trigger every time.
It's all in what works for you. I am sold on the AS trigger. A great guy I met here is sold on the DA only trigger. I have no reason to doubt he shoots it very well. If posible and you are in the market see if you can find a way to try them both before buying. What I like and can shoot well does not mean squat. It's what you like and can shoot well.

So why doesn't Walther offer a P99C in 40S&W in California in AS trigger? I have thousands of rounds through my P99... and it would be nice to get a compact version of the same gun:(

It is all in what you are use to...I only own and shoot the AS...only one thing to do...know your limitations and practice, practice, practice.
Jake has it nailed. Cops tend to like the same trigger on every pull, Seals and police tactical teams like the single action. As Jake says practice and find what works for you. Cops tend to keep their finger out of the trigger to prevent ND’s on their Glocks, though this does slow things down a bit. I tend to like mine decocked on the first shot with finger close but out of the trigger guard. It works for me but that does not mean it works for others.
That all said, the Military faces endless threats and most go or no go’s are going to be go’s. For us and home defense a bump in the night is most likely a bump in the night. There is not a whole army after us. ND’s become a much bigger concern for the homeowner as it may be the wife or kids using the bathroom or knocking their clock radio off the nightstand or your buddies jacking with you by knocking on your window or throwing things on your roof.. If you cannot identify the threat, rule number one, don’t shoot at a sound; it’s likely not a threat.
My thoughts, there is no clear answer, it what works for you. You can practice on the cheap with FBI silhouettes on this. Use an electrical staple or something you pound in. Place up two targets, take a red magic market and put some fake quick hair on one. Order does not matter, switch it often end even reuse the targets, The first target use a standard staple, take a second target and drive electrical staple through that one just a bit so it can be ripped out easy with heavy fishing line. Then do the same with a big piece of cardboard. Get in a safe position with the shooter ready. Pull the first cord to expose the target with the shooter already aiming, and then the second and see if they shoot the one that has the red hair (the no threat one). Mix it up all the time, sometimes two go’s sometimes two no go’s. Do this enough and the instinct to identify the threat becomes second nature in real live. It puts the proper pause in the mix before a shot is fired.
Rockets Out….
Anyone else have cheap go, no-go practices that don’t require pop ups and Hogans Alley.
