I recently bought a tactical custom II ,i wasnt preevy to all the negative hype about them i have seen as of late.at first i was a little worried because it was very stiff and tight.i fired the initial break in 500 rds of quality ball ammo, and i have recently tested the federal hydroshok, speer gold dot and the golden saber all 230 grain versions.combined i fired over 300 rds of hollowpoint ammo with not one hicup from the gun what so ever the only thing i can find to complain about is that the stock mags seem to be very gritty even after i took them apart and cleaned them good with gunscrubber and then used mag slick spray on the inside and they still feel gritty i believe do to crappy stamped feed lips on the mags.using a caldwell plastic 29.00 dollar pistol rest i was able to get 3 shot groups of 1 1/2 inch groups out of this gun with the best being the golden saber that consistantly shot 3 and 4 shot groups of 3/4's of an inch so i guess with the NIJ national statistic for gun fights being most happen at a distance of 7 to 10 feet in low light and one to three rounds are fired.i guess i wont being lying awake at night worrying that i have a 900.00 dollar boat anchor since i bought a kimber.

If you read my anti Kimber posts, I always say when you get a good one you really do get a good 1911. Glad you're a "winner"! Anyway, that lightweight model wouldn't have made much of a "boat anchor", anyways!

yeah i am glad i was a Lucky one to,I have heard a lot of nightmares about that new external extractor of kimbers.i kept thinking man why didnt I go springfield loaded series of even Colt but so far so good.i just hope the extractor doesnt give me head aches down the road and if so do you think it is worth trying to adjust it or just replace it with a quality one like a wilson bullet proof or some thing else?

you can't really adjust it, and Wilson doesn't make an external extractor. Your only option would be to see if Kimber has a newer design if you ever have problems. I've also heard reports that some people with problem Kimbers have recently had their ecternal slides replaced with internal extrctor versions. But since yours is running right, hopefully you'll have no problems. goodluck.

Those Tactical Customs are awesome looking pieces. I read about them every time I see something posted. I was able to check one out recently at my dealer. I wish I could've taken that baby home right then. Those lightweight 1911's are sweet, especially so when you go to carry it.
The only problem is that when I look at the Tactical I also see right next to it the full size CDP and then the S&W 1911PD. It's tough to make a choice between all of those. I would take any of them though.
It seems that every report I read about them talks about how accurate they are. I don't think I have ever read a report where they were more than 3" at 25 yards and most were well below that. Like was said, when Kimber gets them right they really have a sweet pistol. Congrats on yours. How about some pics?
