It doesn't get any better than these two books. If you haven't read them, you absolutely must.
Along those lines, are there any other anti-terrorism books such as Rainbow Six out there that are worth reading? Similarly, are there true revenge novels like Without Remorse? I've heard that these are the best Clancy has to offer, aside from Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger. Thanks, guys.

I can usually finish Without Remorse in 2 days or so. R6 is a great book too.
Lately I've found myself liking Vince Flynn's books a lot more though.

I've read most of Clancy's books and rank "Without Remorse" as one of my favorites. Check out "The Sum of All Fears" by Clancy if you want more terrorist plot stuff.
Try "Liberty" by Steven Coontz. Plenty of action and thought provoking as well...

Im a BIG fan of John Clark/Kelly. They did a shoddy job portraying him in Clear and Present Danger, quite frankly the Clancy novels are better then the movies. Sum of All Fears is my least favorite Clancy movie.
Without Remorse is my favorite Clancy novel. I was hoping they would make a movie about Mr Clark and not screw it up like all the movies based on the books.

Great books, everytime. Without Remorse is definitely my fav.
My thoughts exactly!!;)
The reasons I think Without Remorse has not been made into a movie are because
1) It is about a vigilante
2) It is very pro-gun ownership by individuals
and the biggest reason..
3) The bad guys are truly bad. Just bad. Like some people are in real life. There are no sociological/ pyschological/ culturalogical (is that a word?) reasons that Hollywood could twist to blame Republicans for why they are bad. Although, of course, they could find a way.
Also, I've always liked Red Storm Rising.

You guys have to read Teeth of the Tiger, by Clancy! Great book! Little Jack Ryan is out of college and wants to follow in his father's footsteps. Very good book about fighting terrorists.
There is a book called something like Final Jihad, or Last Jihad, or something like that that was pretty good. Also, Marchinko's books are ok in terms of terrorism stuff, but sometimes they are over the top.

Definatly "Without remorse" is my favorite clancy followed by Rainbow6. John Kelly/ Clark and later Chavez are the best Characters Clancy has come up with. I loved the part in remorse when Jihn puts the guy in the homemade Hyperbaric chamber and inflicts the Bends,,,,Great stuff;g
Night Fall is the newest John Corey Book.
There is a new John orey Book comming out soon. WHOOO HOOOO! Can't wait!

Without Remorse and Rainbow Six are 2 great books. I would recommend checking out ANY of the books written by Richard Marcinko. They are all action packed!!!
Without Remorse-Good
Rainbow Six- Not too bad but somewhat contrived.
Teeth of the Tiger- The plot is so implausably contrived and predictable it is laughable.
I used to like Clancy. His books now are just sort of stupid.
I will admit that I am somewhat jaded. I listen to a lot of books on tape/CD in my car. Abfter awhile one gets pretty familiar with all the plots and twists and characters and writing styles. There is only so many ways to develop a story and then bring it to a conclusion.

griffin is a better writer than clancy.
and quite prolific.
it's less contemporary and more historical fiction..
but the guy can write, and it don't suck.
Clancy has the freedom of invention that historical context inhibits, so his STORIES are better..
but W.E.B Griffin satisfies. Try some.
I've read most of W.E.B.Griffin's series. 'The Corps', 'The Brotherhood of War' and several others. I do like them though they are a bit hokey at times.
I would disagree that he is a better writer than Clancy.
The problem with Clancy IMO, he gets paid by the word and it sure shows. He takes the long way around the block to get next door.
Ok, I know I sound like a critic and no, I couldn't do any better.
I will say that even though I think his writing is just above pulp fiction status and his characters are comic book stereotypes, I just love Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels.
Most of us grew up on James Bond in the movies. If you've not read the books by Ian Fleming you really don't know James Bond. They are quite a bit darker and more serious than the movies. Good stuff.
