I took my new S & W 1911PD to the range and ran about 100 flawless rounds of WWB range ammo through her. The only problem I had was 2 of the rounds from the top of the package had glue on them from sealing the box that did not feed. Other than those 2 rounds this outing was a complete blast. I also took the glock 23 and about 75-100 rounds of WWB. I notice that the 40 is more snappy than the 45. Now granted the 23 is a 4 inch barrel versus the 1911's 5 inch, I like the 45's recoil. Wow pretty much sums up my first impressions.

Me see the light too.
New off duty carry piece. Lovin it. Mine needed a little tweaking to the slide stop but now runs like champ.

Never tried STI 2011 frame with recoil reduction gide rod, aren't you? The 40SW feels even slightly softer 9mm, and I'm not kidding you.
Nice pick, BTW.

What I was trying to say is that my 40 cal glock 23 is more snappy than my s & w 1911 45cal.
I understand.
I know, 40 is a hot round. I tried USPc in 40, and boy!, I would never want to shoot it again. On the other side(which I'm trying to tell you), my STI Edge 40SW shoots even softer than my USP 9mm fullsize.
If you got hooked with 1911(like many of us do), and like hot round like 40SW, pick an STI up in the future. You'll be *^#@ing pleased! ;f

I think that the 23 is an awsome firearm however I'm sticking with my 226 in 9mm or the 1911 in 45 for now. The 23 will slip in my carry rotation though.
Just paid for my PD, now waiting my 10 days.
