Picked up my PM40 yesterday at my FFL. I got it from gun broker as a "test fire" gun for $500 with night sights. It's the stainless model. I thought that was a heck of a deal. After picking up the gun I checked it out and disassembled it and saw that it wasn't clean but in excellent condition. I cleaned it up and it looks like a brand new pistol. I am going to go fire it next week and put some JHP's through it that I'm going to carry. I rented a PM40 at a local range before I bougth this gun and put 150 rounds through it in about 40 minutes. The recoil was high compared to my Full size USP 40 but was still managable. I was suprised how accurate the little gun is. I experienced zero problems with the rental pistol that had over 6k rounds through it. I bought a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster and a Uncle Mikes IWB holster. Both are great and you can hardly feel the gun on your side. Can't wait to get out and shoot it, this gun definetly serves a particular purpose and that's for CCW, not boxes of ammo at the range.

Congrats! :) I hope you find your PM40 as wonderful as I have.
Well, You know the gun is broken in. Just check the recoil/slide spring tention.
Good Luck, keep intouch.

Say you didn't happen to get your pistol from Marshfield Arms did you? If so, sounds like the same deal I got. Haven't fired mine yet either, maybe Thur.
BTW: Watch out when disassembling the slide I pulled a Ralphie and shot my self in the forhead with the striker spring plunger ;9 Took like an hour to find that SOB part after recovering.

Yea, I got it from Joe. It's a great looking pistol and a heck of a deal from him. What ammo have you guy's had good luck with as far as POI and such. I got some 165 gr golddots and 135 gr hyrda-shocks to try out.

I'm not sure if mine even had the 200rds of break in shot through it at the factory? It seems way too clean to have been shot that much. So I picked up a 100rd box of Winchester 165gr FMJ's from Wal-Mart for it's first trip to the range.
Hopefully I wont have to buff the ramp and chamber it already looks pretty good. If it does need to be polished I was thinking fo using some JB Bore paste on a dremel buff cone? I've also heard of using flitz or 1000 grit wet dry sandpaper with oil to polish just the ramp.
Daubs, the 200 round break in is for you to do,they don't do it for you at the factory.Besides, why should they have all the fun?
Kirkcdl, my PM40 was a factory used pistol. It was shot more than just getting the one spent shell casing for the envelope that comes with each new pistol. There are signs of wear on the exterior of the barrel where the slide has worn the matte finish smooth. So it could be possible that it did get shot the 200rds for break-in. The exterior of the pistol has no marks.
PM 40 Range report:
OK I finally got to try out my new PM 40. Went to go trap shooting and took the PM40 just incase no one showed up. Well no one showed so I thought I'd try shooting it just to do a function check.
The weather was bitter cold I'd say around 25-30 degrees. I thought that since metal constricts in the cold this might amplify the risk of FTFeed and FTEject. It was freezing so I only shoot about 15 rounds. The result was GREAT! Not one failure. I can't report much on the accuracy as I was shooting at 50 yards into the dirt berm.
Hopefully I'll get to try it at some paper targets indoors sometime soon to check accuracy. The only thing I noticed was that the spent brass does seem to be deformed after shooting. The brass is oval/egg looking, which does give me some concern about the chamber. Does anyone else have this issue with spent brass?
IIRC,
Either in a review or possibly the owner's manual, this is mentioned. You also probably see a shallow "kink" in the wall of a spent casing. Just one of the quirks of such a short gun package.
I've got over 500 trouble free rounds in my PM40 and it also ejects deformed brass.

Pachary:
Good to know that my PM isn't the only one that deforms the brass.
Par usual I only read the part of the owners manual on how to field strip it. Cleaned it up a bit and oiled with CLP, then went to the range.
I've got to print this pistol on some paper though. Still hoping that accuracy is as good as the G26.
