1944 Remington-Rand GI issue. :)

Not quite as accurate.... but the dang things go bang every time.

The new-made Springfield GI's are about the same.

prove it. lets see some numbers, test, etc. right now i'm sticking with colt, just because it's been around a long time. but lets see some numbers fellas, and put this to rest.

The Springfield TRP Operator is the issue FBI SWAT pistol, or the clone of the issue one. It's been torture tested for accuracy and reliability to a fault. You should not have ANY problems with it.

I admit that I have way more faith in springfield than in the FBI.

If the FBI chose a toothpaste I would use baking soda.

It's the Springfield TRP Professional, and it's not a clone. The civilian guns and the FBI guns are built by the same gunsmiths. Those gunsmiths never know if they're building a gun for the FBI, or civilian use. The FBI contract is satisfied, and then the remaining pistols are sold to civilians.

My 1918 era Colt gov't issue 1911 is as reliable as any I have. That old Colt isn't as pretty as the new guns but it works quite well and is surprisingly accurate.

8 - 10,000 Competition rounds through my Kimber SSII without any problems that I did not cause, best trade I ever made! This was over the course of the last year. The best hands down, I feel is the Wilson Combat Classic Supergrade, you can't beat it for form and function. The gun looks like a work of art and shoots like a dream. I also have a Springfield NM thats many years old and has ate allot of hardball too. Honestly, I wouldn't trade any of these three!

I'd say as far as warranty work goes, probably Springfield.

anyone experienced with the warrenty? whats the toughtest finish? I like stainless, it seems hardy, but is there anything better?

For the price range you are considering you may want to take a look at the SIG GSR. SIG has a great customer service group, too. I have seen GSR's going for 950.00 to 1000.00 in the north Texas area.

It might help if you gave a ball park figure of what you are willing to spend. I would look at both Les Baer and Ed Brown if are able to spend that much. Also any of the Springfield Custom Shop guns have a very good reputation.

i'll spend what i hate to. I really don't see me spending over 1500$. i'm just planning for the future, it's not something i'm going to buy anytime soon.

Check out the Nighthawk offerings. Pricey but worth it.
