I'm so excited, only because I know she'll be excited too.
My wife-to-be was introduced to shooting when we first started dating. She had never before fired a gun and was timid and scared, but quite willing to shoot. I did my best to walk her through everything in great detail. She was genuinely curious and intrigued about the function of firearms, she was just unsure about actually shooing one herself.
I brought most of my guns out (G33, G38, G20, Colt 1911, Sig P229, S&W 686 and HK P2000) and showed her the different triggers and let her see which frame was most comfortable to her.
Remarkably, without hesitation, she went straight for the G20, with DoubleTap ammunition no less! She was hesitant but enjoyed shooting. Afterwards she said she couldn't wait to go again. She said "that midsize Glock feels great, but it's a little thick in the slide and I don't feel like I can control it...is there anything similar with less power?"
Well, I don't know about "less power" because I'm quite confident in 9mm with the right loads, but knew she would probably love a 19. I had two 32s and a 19 which I sold and always regretted doing so. It's the perfect frame for me, plus it's hard to beat the affordability, controlability and capacity of a 19.
So...this afternoon I bought one for her with yellow/green Meprolights. She HATED standard Glock sights and loves the Meprolights, but she's only seen them in green/green. I hope she likes my choice...if not, I'll keep it for me! ;f
