View Full Version : dry firing my P90DC???

i've had my P90DC .45acp for a while now. i have yet to shoot this particular gun, i find dry firing practice tends to improve my shooting. i got some A-zoom snap caps for it and they seem to work except the more i load, unload, and fire them the more chewed up they get (so much for being "hard anodized" aluminum) and they don't simulate the weight of live rounds. can anyone suggest a different more durable brand snap cap/dummey round? thanx

Just dry fire w/o any dummy rounds in the chamber. Double action or if you want cock the hammer back and single action.

Make sure you only load dummy rounds in the magazine or have nothing in it at all and an empty chamber confirmation.

In this case, I don't think you can have your cake and eat it too. If you substitute live rounds for snap caps then you don't get used to the weight of live ammo, if that's what you are talking about. I never thought of it that way. I would just advise you to practice with snap caps or empty dry fires. When you get to the range, then you can practice firing with the full weight of live rounds. I don't think you will lose anything. Good luck.

I've never had a problem with dry firing my firearms, period. I've never owned a "dummy round" in my life. Of course, it may have more to do with how MANY dry fire rounds. Normally, I just step out my door, and use live rounds. I believe modern firearms can take a BUNCH of dry firing without problems. IMHO
