gaston's nine

I'm sure this has been addressed, but here it goes. Can you replace the .40 barrel and the magazine in the USPc with 9mm parts? I have recently been given a .40 that was a victim of Hurricane Ivan, and was left to rust in a box. I couldn't believe that my buddy didn't even try to clean it up. He just assumed that it was totalled, and put in a box. Over a year later I come along and we are talking gun stuff, and he mentions the H&K. He gives it to me and says good luck. I was able to break it down, and there is some rust inside and out, but for the most part, a good cleaning, and a good lube, and this H&K will be a shooter again. I was looking at the barrel, and I think it will clean up, but if it doesn't, I was wondering if I could swap to the 9mm stuff. All my other handguns are 9mm, and I have plenty of rounds to burn up. I'm not saying that I don't want to keep it a .40, but we all know that the 9mm rounds are cheaper at the range. Thanks for the help.
