I had a Glock 30 and it was just too big and fat to carry. Thanks cal45 11-30-2005, 21:20 I bought mine for ccw - I've had a g30 and the grip on the 40c is thinner, which I like for IWB carry. I just ordered the flat base plates for the mags as I'm not a fan of the extended finger extensions. Below is a pic w/my KT P3AT. trainer44455 11-30-2005, 21:24 thanks for the info HK_Junkie 12-02-2005, 12:16 Originally posted by trainer44455 How does the HK compact 40 compare in size and weight to a Glock, close to a Glock 19 OR 23? I have a .40 compact I bought for carry and loved it. I then got a hold of a .40 P2000 and can't see carrying anything else. obxemt 12-03-2005, 00:17 Originally posted by trainer44455 Is it more of a duty weapon or is it suitable for concealed carry? I bought mine for off duty and special assignment use, and occasional wintertime concealed carry. It's not as thick as a G30 but a tad thicker than the Glock compact (19-sized) frames. My style of dress doesn't lend itself well to concealing anything larger than a subcompact Glock, but if you really want to carry an HK, then you'll dress around it. I just didn't find it conveniant in warmer weather. Great gun by the way! I regret selling mine (Compact .40 stainless). I'll be getting a 9mm compact shortly. P.S. For me, flat magazine baseplates are an absolute must! rooster75 12-04-2005, 01:00 Originally posted by HK_Junkie I have a .40 compact I bought for carry and loved it. I then got a hold of a .40 P2000 and can't see carrying anything else. I have a Compact .40 LEM and am looking for a P2000 .40 LEM as well. HK's website lists the width of the P2000 as 1.34, versus 1.14 for the Compact. Is the greater width of the P2000 due to the ambidexterous slide release, or is the slide actually wider? Thanks. Alphaman 12-04-2005, 01:10 I have a USPc40 and a G23. The G23 seems just a tad thinner IMO. I looked a the specs for the USPc40 before I bought it and something just didn't seem right when I compared it to the G23 based on the specs HK posts for the USPc40 gun. It looks like the slide on the USPc40 is what adds the thickness. The frame is thinner than the slide and it looks like HK may post thickness based on the frame only. Therefore I guess it depends on your mode of carry on whether it will work for you or not. I really like the USPc40 because of its options and mode of carry where it's cocked and locked (similar to 1911) and you can start with a SA pull, rather than starting DA and going to successive SA shots as in shooting most Sigs. I'm much more accurate with the SA pull than the DA. glock26daddy 12-07-2005, 00:04 If you had a G30 and it was too big forget about the USP. It's a tad bit bigger. Here's a pic of a USP Compact .40 with my G26 &27. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/glock26daddy/40family.jpg As you can see the USP has a full size grip. obxemt 12-07-2005, 01:36 Originally posted by glock26daddy If you had a G30 and it was too big forget about the USP. For me, that would only be true if you're talking about the .45 USP-C. I hated the G30 but the USP-C series in .40 or 9mm is fantastic and not all that different in feel from a G19/23/32; and I have smallish hands. The slide on the P2000 is rounded so it gives it a thin look. I read somewhere HK measures the widest part of the guns for their measurements so the ambidexterous release would make it wider. rooster75 12-07-2005, 22:09 Thanks HK_Junkie. Jagman239 12-08-2005, 07:21 My new P2000 would be great for carry except for the extended base plate, particularly on the .40 caliber. It extends a great deal from the base, where the 9mm fit's more flush. obxemt 12-08-2005, 12:13 JAGMAN: http://www.robertrtg.com/uspcflatplates.html Jagman239 12-09-2005, 20:59 Originally posted by obxemt JAGMAN: http://www.robertrtg.com/uspcflatplates.html Thanks OBX...I called him today to order a couple but haven't heard back. rooster75 12-09-2005, 21:48 Jag, I received an email from him a couple of days ago. He says he has them in stock. Alphaman 12-09-2005, 21:57 I called yesterday and they said they were out ;g vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
