View Full Version : I think I need customer service????
Bought a new PM9. Took it to the range today. Loaded the mag. and racked the slide. Pulled the trigger and click. Did this several times and each time click. Not the sound you want to hear when you think you should hear bang. Took the slide off and it appears that the striker is hanging up on something and staying in the rear position. Should the striker be fairly loose in the channel or should it be tight. They sent a fired cartridge, however, I don't think it came out of the gun I have.
Have any of you had this problem.

Well it has to come out of your gun by law...!
Tell us more...
When you racked the slide after the failure to fire and confirmed there was actually a round in the chamber, did you inspect the primer for a firing pin mark? What did you find?
Do this test:
Fields strip, get the slide upside down on the table. Now with a fingernail see if you can push the firing pin so that it shows out of the breach face (Number 7 in the Lube Diagram (http://glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=398500)); extends past the front of the breachface. It should not!
(In the attached photo you want to capture the square-ish metal piece at the muzzle and of the striker spring.)
Now, there is the firing pin safety release right next the piece we just spoke of... It's rectangular with a 1/2 moon shape it is on the right side of the slide (when it's on the gun and right side up), it is in the top in the photo between the two machined "dots" on the underside of the slide (Number 8 in the Lube Diagram (http://glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=398500)).
Push that piece down with something non-marring. When I clean the gun I sometimes use a patch holder to do this; to verify function.
Whle holding that down... try and push the firing pin forward so that it extends past the breach face. It should now extend past the breach face!
If it does you have verified that the firing pin safety is working correctly; that it is safe when intended and it is releasing the firing pin when it's supposed to.
When you say "Did this several times and each time click." was that all on the same round?

On each of the three Kahr's I have owned, the Striker pins are held tight against the Striker Safety Block by the Striker Spring.
You can get a view of this on the stickied post labeled Kahr Lube Diagram.

Right, and it is drawn back from there by the cam (the mate of which releases the firing pin safety if I understand correctly.
I fixed the problem. Thanks to Glock armorer school a few years ago I took off the slide and checked the striker. It was tight in the channel and wouldn't move. I removed the striker and cleaned out the channel and replaced all of the parts. (no extra parts) I went back to the range and put 200 rounds through the gun without one malfunction. Shot several types of ammo. It all shot well. I had to move the rear sight to the right to bet the point of aim the same as poi. Very happy with the gun.
Thanks for all the postings.
