I just received the Jan issue of Guns and Ammo today. They list as new for 2006, from Kahr, a CW40. From what I read it is a 40 caliber version of the CW9(Pinned Front site, conventional rifling, one mag, etc). They also list the Kahr website address but there is nothing about it on the website yet.
Very Interesting.

The Kahr users manuals that are posted on Kahr.com in .pdf format have been updated to include references to the CW40. FWIW, I think I'll stick with my P40. It may be a bit pricier, but I'll trust it more. Kahr is making the CW line cheaper by cutting a few corners. Those corners may never be a problem, but then again they might, and if my life rests on those parts functioning flawlessly, I'll pay the extra $150 for the P model.
Kahr is marketing these guns to people new to guns and gun shopping, trying to grab market share for the "under $500" price range. I'm sure the CW40 will fill that niche nicely, and if the CW40 does as well as I expect it to (it IS a Kahr, after all), then the owner may be inclined to pickup a more expensive Kahr next time. It's not a bad marketing strategy, and I'm certainly not bashing their logic or cost-cutting approach, but I'm still going to be picky about what guns I trust my life to.
FWIW, I've transitioned from a G36 for EDC to my Kahr P40, and I LOVE the P40. I might buy a CW40 just to have a less expensive gun to shoot the crud out of at the range, so I can save the wear and tear on my carry gun, but that would be the only reason.
