;z I've read many negatives on the P22 in this forum and others and I've read even more positives about the little sucker! I purchased one of my own and not only is it cheaper and fun to shoot compared to my P99 which is also fun to shoot but at a heavy cost! My P22 showed tight groups at any reasonable handgun distance but even showed aggressiveness when I put the trigger and mechanics through an almost cyclic run for about 8 mag changes! Immpressive! I've shot 500rds(Federal Hollow Points-High Velocity Box)through mine in just 2weeks. This is a hell of a treat for my family! Thats all I have.
Thank You,

I have one of those too. It had a rough start what with feeding issues because it was one of the problematic early ones, but S&W tooled with it, and when they got done, it has been running fine ever since. That was about 8000 rounds ago. So far it has proven to have been one of my wiser selections. By now it has paid for itself and its ammunition twice because of the savings of cheaper ammo (normally shooting 9mm). I do hope it will hold on for quite a while longer, but if it wears out, I can't say I didn't get my money's worth, and I will probably buy another one.:)

I wish they'd make a better adjustable rear sight and high capacity mags to hold 15 or better! Wouldn't it be great? Like a little "full size" brother of the P99! Dr. Evil's Mini Me! It's just a joy to shoot.

Going to have to try to find one of the two tone ones if the time comes to junk the old one.

The p22 is a great shooting gun. Lots of fun. I would agree that higher capacity mags would be nice.:)

I hope the Federal High Velocity Box is not the same as Federal 36gr 22LR HP Value Packs from Wal-Mart.

My P22 choked on every other round.

Feeds fine with the Rem Golden Bullets, though.

Yep, Federals box of 550 from Wal-mart with no problems. 550rd box, 36gr copper plated H.P's. Hey Glockman67, do you hit shooters paradise or gilberts for range time? If so, maybe we can go shoot some time!

With the wrench that came with your P22, remove the cover on the end of the barrel. I bought the flash hider and adapter from Performance Enhancement Systems. pesi@ptcnet.net He was at a local gun show a few months back. The flash hider is a standard AR-15 piece. He makes the adapter for the threaded barrel.;f

Just out of curiousity, what does the flash hider do for you on the pistol (yeah smarties, I know, it hides flash)?

It makes for quite an intimidating appearance when pointed at ya! It does help somewhat reducing the flash especially when shooting the stingers. Had a standard birdcage A1 installed on my P22. Now it looks like a little 93R.

It doesn't do anything you really need. I just like how it looks. ;f

I'm new to this forum but I would appreciate some help. I have a P22 that also chokes on Federal ammo from Walmart. I get a lot of failures to extract. In fact the extractor hook doesn't even engage the rim half the time. I also had problems with the safety rotating to the engaged position during recoil until the shop where I bought it exchanged the top half of the gun with one they were about to send back to the factory. Has anyone else experienced these problems and what ammo do you recommend to solve the reliability problem. thanks. GW

I wouldnt assume its bad ammo, I use the feds with no problem. 1200rds so far but If I was in your shoes I definaetly call the Walther America @1800-372-6454 and tell them what the problem is and have them replace the handgun completely. A fresh start would be a better way to start to handle the problem. At least e-mail there cus. service and see what they can do for you.

They can guide you directly. Even if warranty is void give them a chance...there really good about handling there problems. This is there problem!

I had never had extractor problems but I did have the safety problem that you mentioned with my P22. Don't bother with going to you gun shop. Call Walther USA direct and they will take care of you. They will send you a Fedx label and come right to your door and pick it up and they should take care of your problem free of charge.

I had an extractor problem with my first P22. I sent it back to S&W and they replaced it with a brand new gun. I asked for an OD one this time, and they said no problem. Great customer service.;f

I go mainly go to Gilbert's 10:30's in the morning.

My chockes mainly consisted of horizontal stovepipes and failures to eject.

You got a good deal, but why replace the whole gun over an extractor?

Because they told me the gun would have to go back to Germany for repair. 6-8 mos turnaround. A new gun was better customer service.

I just got home with my brand new P22 3.4" in OD Green and I just can't manage to put it down ;f I can only hope it will shoot as good as it looks and feels in my hand.

I picked up and OD P22 about 3 weeks ago. It is fun to shoot but it seems to like to toss the brass straight back at my head. The only other complaint would be that it drops the last empty right on my hand between the ejection port and my trigger finger. I still have not figured out how to correct this.

High velocity ammo like CCI minimags or stingers, or you can modify the angle of the ejector found on this forum:

I agree, that's better customer service, but it also means these folks need to get their act together and establish the means to service these weapons in the states, because shipping them back to Germany OR passing out new weapons is unnecessarily expensive.

PS how many rounds did you have through yours when the extractor failed? Mine has eaten nearly 10,000 rounds, and I wonder what my chances are that they just give me a new one too if mine ever breaks. I understand if they don't (I wouldn't either if I could get out of it), but wouldn't mind if they did.

I think it had around 300 through it. Spent casings kept going everywhere but to the side. Lot's of brass in the face. Safety glasses work! I would have been happy with a repaired extractor, but sending a new weapon was their call. ;f

I can't say enough about the P22. I picked up a new one last week and got it out to the range today. I ran 350 rounds of CCI Stingers and 100 rounds of Remington yellow jackets. First 50 rounds of Stingers I had a few problems but after that it ran 100%. The Stingers are a blast to shoot and were giving off a good flash as daylight was fading. I had feeding problems with the yellow jackets but I thought that might happen. This is my third P22 but I don't plan on letting this one go.

Did you sell or give away either of the last two, or did you wear one out. If you wore one out, how many rounds did it take to do it?

I traded them. Both had around 5000 rounds through them and were still going strong.
