Why did glock have to change the followers so many times? I dont remember seeing this with other gun makers.
Continuous improvement is the key to perfection. Magazines are key to reliable function.
what jungle said, just ask porsche, who has spent 40+ years updating their basic car design.

Just think if it was perfection. Glock would of got it PERFECT the first time. So at least we can admit glock was not perfect. Oh and please don't take this the wrong way..I love my 19

I can't give you a specific manufacturer, but I can name a gun that has had at least 4 or 5 different IMPROVEMENTS in the magazine folowers:
Say hello to the AR-15 ;f

True...I have a RRA and find no problems using USGI 30's w/Green followers. Still the M16/AR15 magazines have been in production alot longer then the Glock 19. Any one know if other caliber glocks had as many changes?
John
I think the G30 mag followers have a few itenerations as well

Hey John,
What followers do you have? I just picked up my G19 last night and it has 9mm5 followers.
Hee hee, this was the first time I saw the 5's.

Especially if the gun is a semi-auto. Mags are the achilles heel of semi-auto handguns.

As far as I know all NYPD Glocks are #4. Are Glocks seem to be working much better since the last round of upgrades.

Are most NYPD G19s in the field 3rd Gen guns?

John NYPD is referring to the generation change of the followers not the gun itself ergo, 9mm4 vs a 4th gen glock which currently does not exist at the moment.

Most of the 2nd Gen. glocks are owned by the older cops...there are less and less 2nd Gen. glocks in the NYPD due to them being retired with the older MOS(members of the service). All the rookies have gen3. I have a gen#2 which i got in 1993 when I retired my ruger police service 6.
