Ok guys it's time to learn how to detail strip my 99. It's a sw99 in .40 and the only reason I haven't learned earlier is that I was told it wasn't really needed unless I shot it a ton. I know this is not a S&W club but could you help a fellow GT'er out?
Contact Rockets, or Lunde from the P99 FAQ page, or MNUKEDUDE, or Shipwreck! Look down a coule of threads to the one I wrote about "Earl Argues"......and click on the number of post replies I've recieved and all of thier contact names will appear. They are all very, very knowledgable! Good Luck!
How detailed are we talking about????? Are you talking about taking out every single piece and part for inspection?

Well she's got a few thousand rounds so I feel like I "need" to do a detailed clean and inspection because myself and my girl carry it. I guess it's just odd for me because I rip my glock right down but can't with the 99.

Thank you GLD1980 for the kind words. Sadly the slide is the only half of it I have figured out how to break down so far. I'd love instructions on how to tear down the frame.
I did it as a test to put in a new trigger. You need printed instructions but I would not do it as it can be done much easier if you are just cleaning out the tight areas and it's a bit hard compared to a Glock in frame breakdown. Find something that is fine on plastic. I use gun scrubber that says it's safe for Glocks. You want a spray can of some sort of spray cleaner, one with the straw for the nozzle is a must in my book to aim it at the areas with moving parts.
Just take the frame in the back yard. Shoot a ton in there, move all the levers inside a bit, push down on that round lock up lug in the center of the frame and repeat about three times from the start. (spray a ton, move parts around) The P99 is so open in the frame area like a Glock or AK that very little can go wrong. The above will get all the gunk out that is hidden.
The area you really want to clean is the slide, get that firing pin and extractor out and clean the heck out of them and the holes and areas they fit in. These areas are where things go wrong and jams, FTF, FTE and light primer strikes come from.
With the number of rounds put through it I just don't think you need to worry about the parts in the frame other than cleaning. (Unless you have a specific problem)
Once you get to around 10,000 rounds then start thinking about checking the parts in the slide. Mine is above that and with a suppressor which counts for about half those shots, and I am not kidding here, half of the powder and crap actually blows back into the gun, not out the barrel, 50 rounds and the thing is filthy inside. Never had a problem other than some light primer strikes once due to some gunk in the firing pin hole. Easily fixed by cleaning the pin and the hole.
Rockets Out...
PS: Thanks GLD1980
