Any vension deserves better than a crockpot. This question was also asked in the hunting forum and a few receipes and cooking ideas where added.

The best recipe I have for venison doesn't use a crockpot. It's for smoked deer roast. Ends up tasting a lot like roast beef. More time consuming and labor intensive than with a crock pot but well worth it.

This isnt a crockpot recipe but its much faster and tastier in my opinion, heat a skillet with some peanut oil up as you take some of your venison steaks, doesnt have to be loin or TL, just some kinda of flat steak and coat them in seasoned flour, than put as many that can fit into the skillet on there, and fry while flipping about every 2 1/2 minutes until it is just a little pink on the inside!!...then take them out season with more salt and enjoy. Its the best and most tender venison ive ever tasted!!

NOT a crockpot but I use cubed deer steaks season with onion salt and/or mesquite salt and grill on a hot grill for about 4-8 mins per side or until the inside turns pinkish-red and then serve with fried potatoe wedges.

Hmmm hmmm good !
