I have just come into possession of an interarms Walther PPK/s and have been getting acclimated to it, as there was no manual with it. I have a Makarov, which is somewhat similar, however, I believe that there may be a problem with the ppk/s.
If I attempt to load one round only from the magazine by inserting it and retracting the slide/letting it travel foward, the round chambers, however, upon retracting the slide again, the round stays in the chamber, and is not withdrawn by the extractor.
If I attempt to load from a full magazine, It will load and extract all the rounds, except the last round. It does this consistantly with the last round only.
My question is, is this something that is common or designed this way, (although I can't believe this) or is there a problem with the weapon???
Any suggestions??
I have a newer S&W PPK, and it does the exact same thing. However, when I fire it it functions flawlessly. I believe the problem simply lies with the fact that we cannot pull the slide back hard enough to make it eject properly. The spring in the PPK is VERY stout, and needs the pressure of a cartridge to properly operate the action.
This is my theory, I could be wrong, but I do know for a fact that mine does this but still functions 100% when fired.

I carry my S&W-made PPK/s and just the other day removed the mag, pulled the slide back to eject the round and it worked perfectly.
Maybe it's something they improved over at S&W?
Sure beats me....

Are you doing all this by hand? Have you tried fireing the pistol? I find the ejection port to be small on PPK's and a unfired round doesn't come out the best. You also can't get speed of slide same as fireing
If your having this problem when shooting then I say something to worry about. Possible extractor problem. Last round might be a weak mag spring Wolff springs can fix you right up.
Since this is a Interarms and you may or may not know when made or have any idea as to number of rounds fired. I would change the recoil spring and mag springs .
Recoil spring goes , tight end to gun. If you turn your spring so open end( end that fits in slide is a 12 o clock)goes back to gather a little easier at least for me.
Iam not a gun smith and my advise is free. So you can do as you please. PPK/S are fine pistols and older ones need good cleaning and new springs. That takes care of most common troubles along with a little polish of feed ramp. I carry my Interarms PPK/S 90% of the time and have complete faith in it. I know mine is at least 25 years old and I fire it regular. I hope yours gives you as good of service.

For about 20 bucks from Wolff you can get 4 mag springs at +5% and a 20 lb (stock) recoil spring (including shipping). Worked for me.

Well, I was able to shoot the PPK/S today, one FTF with ball ammo, strike was light and off center. But, it functioned with all hollowpoint ammo I stuffed in the magazine. (Starfire, Gold Dot, Hydra-Shok, Golden Sabre, Silvertip) without a hiccup. Impressed me enough that I might carry this. It also ejected all, including last round, with the exception of the one FTF.
gun shoots bad to the right though, and upon looking at the slide, the front sight looks like it was casted to the Left side, which would explain this.
Guess I'll have to drift the rear sight, or bet a new front sight milled in and properly placed.
Me likey likey, otherwise...

Once you work the quirks out, nice carry
I tried one round in the mag of my newly purchased, and unfired S&W PPK/S......chambered and ejected perfectly by working the action by hand.

My ppks (walther usa) will eject by hand, but you have to pull that slide back as hard and fast as you can, otherwise it does the same things as yours. This gun by the way has never jammed. It has seen clost to 5k rounds of HP, FMJ, WC, you name it.
