View Full Version : pm-40 slide stays back
after a very long wait for my little kahr to come back home i put about 150 rounds thru it and i was happy. yesterday i cleaned heavily oiled my little buddy and went to the range. every shot required me to hit the slide release to chamber another round. i tied evey one of my 5 kahr mags with the same the same result making my pm-40 a repeater. i added more oil at the range but nothing helped...nobody at the range knew what caused this problem. can anyone out there help me? i polished the ramp previously and have dremal. its strange it it went from reliable operation to stuck slides. many thax in advance. cyril............

Your assembly pin/slide release is installed incorrectly. First unload the firearm and remove the magazine. Then remove the slide release. Line up the holes and reinstall slide release. Chances are you assembled your gun with an empty magazine in the frame, this will cause the slide release to install over the spring instead of under.

brian at kahr said my spring that sits under slide release bar isn't in the right position and needs some bendeing.. he's sending me a new one and i need to use a #6 trorx tip to install the new spring and watch out for improperly positioning the spring while tightening with the torx tip. i must have bent the spring when i installed the slide release after cleaning and oiling.. many thanx for your help...cyril.........

I'd suggest following the Lube Diagram on the sticky. Over oiling can cause more harm than good in that it'll do nothing but attract more residue.
