Ring bite...

Any effective methods for preventing the rings from taking a bite out of your scope?

Make sure the front and rear rings are aligned so the scope sits easily centered with the top halfs of the rings removed. Maybe just a little lapping needed if the bases are a little off.

If you're crimping the scope tube with the rings you've got something wrong or need to put away the 1/2" impact driver.;f

Slight marks on the finish are only cosmetic and besides, you can't see them anyway with the scope mounted. Better that than having the scope slip under recoil.
