View Full Version : G19 extractor question.....
I'm seeing 2 types of extractors on the G19 3rd generation with rails....one is smooth, the other has lip on it. Seems like the lip one would give you indication a round was chambered in dark? what does yours have?

That would be the loaded chamber indicator. I'm not sure when Glock started doing this- maybe someone else here does?

Are the 2 extractors inter-changeable in between gen 1, gen 2 & gen 3 9mm glocks ?

My gen 2 is smooth, while the gen 3 is liped. Ill check the interchange tonight.

The smooth extractor should be interchangeable with 3rd gen G19's so long as extractor has the 15 degree cut.
3rd gen glocks started getting LCI extractors circa 2003.
Although the protrusion serves as a quick aid for a chambered round, it is still a wise idea to visually as well and physically make sure that the chamber is either empty or loaded.
Oh 1st gen G19's are EXTREMELY rare and therefore have the 90 degree cut.

To be honest I had not experienced any problem with the originally designed extractors. In fact the newer ones don't look as efficient bcoz the indentation could accumulate dirt.
As for serving as a chamber loaded indicator, I have never relied on the extractor and always rack the slide back to check on the chamber if loaded.

They do interchange for me. GZ gen 2
FUN gen 3
Why is the original G19 extractor 90 deg. versus the new ones that are 15 deg. cut?
Is there a reliability issue?

As posted in the general glocking forum, make sure to get the correct plastic bearing, they differ from 90 deg and 15 deg.
