I picked up a used Lasermax off the forums in trade for a ITI M6 and I am having all kinds of problems. The lasermax is for a G17/G22/G31 and the person I bought it from said he used it with a G22 with no problems. I am using it in a 3rd Generation 2-pin Glock 17. Also, FWIW, this is my third lasermax (I have them in my G21 and G30).
My issue is that the activation switch is not working correctly. When I depress the switch from the left the laser does not come on at all most of the time regardless of how hard I push or what I do. When I pust the switch on from the right the laser will come on but it only comes on if it is pushed in really far.
With my other Glocks, the lasermax switch simply clicks on and off from either side without issue.
I tried swaping parts areound from my Glock 21 and Glock 30 (switch and spring) and neither sets of switch or spring parts seemed to help. The tail cap looks good as the person I got it from had a new replacement.
The only thing I noticed that seemed strange is that the spring on the lasermax is "open" on one end where the non-captive spring on my glock 21 has round "closed" ends on both ends of the spring. I just committed to buying a Glock 22 on the board so I am going to try this lasermax in the Glock 22 when I get it but otherwise I am looking for suggestions.
The guy I traded with has offered to trade back and I believe he is being honest that the laser never cause him troubles but I can not quite figure this out. Has anybody ever had a Glock that would not work right with a Lasermax? Anybody remember any strange fixes that were necessary?
I am not going to get too crazy with the Glock 17 as I am going to be converting the Glock 17 to a G34 (have the upper and trigger parts already) so the Glock 22 will become my home defense gun with the lasermax so if the laser works with the G22 this hole post was moot but I am just a little frustrated as I have never seen this with a lasermax before. I may need to trade back if this doesn't work but I have a ITI M3 LED I was going to use on the Glock with the lasermax to give me more versitility and options but I am counting on the laser working and right now I would not trust this laser for my own home defense use.
Thanks,
QB
