Hi,
I had a quick question. I just came upon a great deal on a mk even though I had my mind set on the pm9. The kahr is great because it fits my standards for concealment but I had a question regarding the width between the mk9 and the pm9. Are the mk9 standard grip width bigger than the pm9? If they are, is it noticeable when it is iwb. Thanks in advance.

I own a MK40 and a P40 Covert. The Covert has the same grip as the PM40 but the slide of the P40.
In answer to your question. Yes the grip on the PM model is thinner, but not by much. As far as size, IWB they feel about the same. The difference is the weight. I love my MK40 and will never get ride of it, however the P40 Covert is 7 oz. lighter. (The PM40 is one oz lighter then the P40 Covert.) I have a bad back and the less weight I carry, the easier it is on my back. Some also think the MK models are harder to pocket carry, because of the added weight.
The question really boils down to if you want to carry around the extra 1/2 pound. If the extra 1/2 pound is not an issue, go with the MK9. If it is an issue go with the PM9.
Good Luck

The dimensions are so close as to be unnoticeable while carrying IWB, IMHO. The grips are too close to tell and they certainly won't be an issue in IWB carry. The dust cover of the PM is wider (because it is thicker), for this reason a finely boned holster made especially for a MK9 will pinch a PM9 (yes, I have tried) making the draw difficult. This not as big an issue if the design incorporates a tension adjustment device. It is something to be aware of, you cannot necessarily use MK9 and PM9 holsters interchangeably.
I've carried both for years. The PM9 is my preferred pocket pistol and the MK9 is unnoticeable on the belt (I carry OWB). I have carried the MK9 in the pocket too, it can be done but the PM9 drops the weight by over 1/2 a pound.
If I had to own just one it would be the MK9 hands down.
No noticable difference. I tried both on and they felt the same. The weight diff is quite noticeable. But not the width.
If its a good deal get the MK. You will like it. I love my MK40.

Unless you are going to pocket carry get the MK version they are far superior in quality compared to the PM pistols. I don't know why this is (could they be built in entirely different facilities?), but the all stainless guns are in a different league IMHO. I've got both an early MK9 and a late PM9 and there is not comparison and I mean the non-polymer parts like slide and bbl. are no where near the same fit and finish.
Though one is 7 years old and the other 7 months old... Hmmm, makes you wonder what happened...
Now, as much as I am not pleased with the fit and finish of my PM9 and that fact that it took months and numerous returns to get it running (though it still looks 2nd rate) I love it for what it is and it is carried (pocket) more than any other piece.
