Can anyone provide a picture of the TruGlo TFO sights on their Glock? I would like to see the sight picture from behind, when they are held on target. Also the spec sheet from Brownells web site says the front TFO sight is 3.6mm wide. It does not give the size of the rear notch on the rear sight. Does anyone know how wide this rear notch is on the 131GT1 models for the G17,33,34 and 35? The rear TruGlo sight kind of looks similar to a Novak, which I really do not prefer. I plan on using these sights on either a G17 or a G35.

I have considered using a Heinie slant pro or straight 8 rear sight.
Heinie's (http://www.heinie.com/glockpg.php)

Or possibly even a Warren Tactical sight.
Warren Tactical (http://www.warrentacticalseries.com/webpages/wts_sevignycompetition.htm)

One of those rear sights combined with the TruGlo TFO front sight, seems like a good set up.

I am not sure how the sight heights will match up with these different combinations, but I figured if I could see a pic of the TFO's I could get a general idea of what to expect. I would think the Heinie or Warren rear sight notch could be opened up or widened if needed to accomodate the 3.6mm wide TFO front sight.

If it is possible to get pics of the TFO's either outside in the sunlight or in a dimly lit/dark room, that would make for a cool comparison.

If anyone has a preference over the TruGlo TFO's, please feel free to share a pic of whatever sights you have.

Thanks on advance for any assistance.

While not directly on point, I have the Heinie Slant Pros (race cut option through Custom Glock Racing) and I love them.

That said, I'm purchasing a new G19 today and I'm looking to go into a fiber optic sight. CGR has the Dawson front pared with the Heinie SP rear for a pretty good price. You might want to look at them here. (http://www.gunracing.com/Qstore/Qstore.cgi?CMD=009&DEPT=000001&CAT=000002&BACK=A0007A1B0000001B1)

Buffering, Thanks for the reply. I was kind of set on getting a fiber optic front sight that had tritium in it. As of right now TruGlo is the only company I know of offering this combination.

Shooterready, Those pics are great! That is exactly what I was looking for. Those sights look like they are really bright. I took the plunge and ordered a pair. Once they are installed on my gun, I may subdue the rear dots a little bit. That helps me focus on the front sight a little faster/better. Thanks again for the pics and info. That G21 looks like it belongs to a Master! ;)

Speedrock, That's disappointing to hear about the Warren sights. I think I have shot a gun with a pair of his sights, but I will have to check with its owner to find out for sure. They seem like excellent sights.

They truly are excellent. I was shooting my Glock on Monday, and even in the bright sunlight, they are easy to pick up and as bright as all get out. The best thing about the sights is that there is no transition form daylight to inside light to noght. The bright sights remain constant through all light levels. You will love them.

One more thing guys,

If I install them on a glock 34/35, will the front sight not over-hang on the cut-out on top of the slide? I can see the FS is quite long.

Thanks.

The front sight will overhang into the cutout. My Hiviz does as well on the G34 and G35.

I think I'll outfit all of my guns with those TFO's.

So the front sight hangs out on a G35, is there any problem? I mean does it mess it up at all? I don't see why it would. Someone with that set-up let me know.

My experience was w/ Hiviz tac sights, not w/ a TFO. On a G34/35, the tac sight is not fully supported in its entire length because a portion of the sight hangs on the porting of the slide. I found this to be fragile and broke 2 tacsights into 2 pieces in a span of 5,000 rounds more or less of .40SW w/ ipsc match load. So I decided to use a Dawson FO sights.

Increadible pictures and comparrison. I have TFO's on all my carry guns. i also did a comparison in exactly the same way but didn't have time for the pics. I feel TFO's are the best overall sights & quality to boot.

Glad you all enjoy. Just glad that I own all the guns/sights to make the picture

Wow, I had not heard of TFOs before. Glad I stopped into this post.

I use Heinie SlantPro Straight Eights now because I am a little quicker with 2-dots up and down, rather than 3-dots across. Is it possible to use a TFO front with a Heinie rear sight? It would be wonderful if TruGlo made a TFO version of straight eights.

It appears from the photos that the truglo TFO's are longer (from front to back) Does this shorten sight radius, affecting accuracy?

hey, I am thinking of getting some of the new Novak fiber optics for my Springfield TRP.

The green fiber optic seems to be brighter and better for low light. So, I think I will go w/ a green front dot.

I'm just debating on whether I should go with green on the back too, or if I should go with red on the rear - It will be closer to my eye, and would contrast the front and rear dots nicely. But, obviously, it's not quite as bright as the green

Any advice from existing fiber optic owners?

Ok. I'm going to the Reliant gunshow soon - I am hoping to see at least a few guns w/ fiber optics installed available to look at.

As for the brand, I have no choice - I have to go with Novaks. The gun is already cut for Novak sights. I have not found any other brands that will fit (other than a Dawson front sight).

TurboRocket, I have inquired about using a TFO front and a Heinie CGR race cut rear. The CGR looks like a great sight. I was told that the TFO front would be way too short. The sights are matched height front and rear. The TFO front is also extremely wide and would not work well with the Heinie rear. The Heinie rear is .250 with a .156 notch. Matt at Custom Glock Racing helped me out with this inquiry. Great customer service!

Ideally I wish Heinie would make a Tritium/Fiber Optic front sight with their standard straight eight tritium rear dot. Then I would have this rear sight opened with the CGR race cut option, OR TruGlo could make a version of the straight eight sight picture which would be good too. Both types would make for an excellent set of sights.

FJR - Thanks. I'll stick with what I have for now because I really don't want different sights on my Glocks and I really don't want to switch back to 3-dots. I'll just hold out and hope that someone comes up with the right combination; if that ever happens.

At night or in very low light does your front sight appear to be less bright then the rears. Mine are and after close insp the fiber optic ends that you are actually lokoing at are very badly melted or something. I went to the place where they were installed and we opened up another set and all six lights were the ame brightness. I think I am going to gall Tru-Glo tmorrow and see if they will just let me ship them back and have them send me another set. they told me not to try and use my dremmel tool to polish the ends also.

Any Tritium sight should be pushed in place. Tapping the sight may cause a breakage in the glass vial.

Would the recoil from the gun be worse then lightly tapping the sites in? If the vials break that easy, I don't know that I would want them on my CC gun?

Can someone provide details as to how the TFO's get installed on a Glock 22? Is a special tool required? From the pics, there looks like a screw on the top of them but can't tell for sure.

Any idea about the Meps - whether or not the standard Glock sight pusher will work on these?

Yes, the Glock Sight tool (an obscene torture looking screw device) does the job beautifully. Once positioned, just tighten down the allen nut/screw on the Rear Sight.

A dab of Loc-Tite for the front sight will keep that from flying off. The fellow who installed mine used RED Loc-tite, although perhaps BLUE would have sufficed.

It is really like having three single LEDs pointing at you in daylight, and this color combination is THE BEST thing since sliced bread. With the Yellow Rears and the Green Front, I find that picking up the front sight is EASY & FAST.
As a "night sight" the glow is a bit less, but GOOD.

WoooHooo!!! there is a god!!! That is sooo frickin sweeeeet! Last time i went to Tru glo's website, they only had single colored set-ups. So i figured i'd just have to deal with it. I mean...anyone who has normal fiber optics, probably has a few different colors layin around and has swapped em back and forth. So this is a great thing. Thanks for postin that most wonderful reply.

Glad i havent spent any cashola on any TFOs yet.

Whats even better is...the site you posted sells them with Green fronts and yellow rears...just like the fiber optics i had and wanted to replicate for day/nite use.

Based on this thread, I just had a set of TruGlos installed on my G27. (My guy does it for me free while I wait.)

I like the fact that they're metal, but I must admit that I do miss the big white "goal post" effect of the stock sights.

I know... :deadhorse: But I realized something that has not been posted in other threads about NS, which is that on a G35 (what I have) the TFO sight in the front will overhang into the cut out. So with this in mind; what has others done with 34's & 35's? Can you buy a Meprolight front and a Truglow TFO for the rear? Would it be worth it?

Shooterready, those are great pictures. As a suggestion/request, could you take a picture of the four pistols with the NS on them from the top, so one can see the relative lengths of them?

So thank you all for the help and I would like to hear what you guys have done for the 35's.

Thanks for the great pictures and information. From what I can tell, the front of the F.O. Tubes is covered, as not to help the BG acquire you. I really like that over traditional target-type F.O. sights. Having said that, I notice the rear sight has that rather large cut-out on top to let light in. If I were standing with the weapon in my hand with my arm hanging straight down (muzzle pointed perpendicular to the floor, just outside my strong-side foot), does the tritium cause the cut-outs on the rear to glow?

If anyone knows I'd be obliged for the info. I, too, have been considering these for awhile, so I really appreciate all the great info. Thanks!!

I just did a quick check on that. The fibers in the cutout do not emit any light that I could detect in a completely dark room. If the pistol is pointing straight down, the front sighting point is visible from an angle since the fiber actually protrudes slightly from the metal; kind of a rounded bump where it goes into the metal of the front sight. A BG could probably see the front sight if he was within 6 feet or so from you. The rears are actually back slanted so the BG would have to be darn near arm's length to see them.

Great info John. Thanks for checking that out.

Shortly after I posted the question I was running through a room clearing drill and a strictly defensive drill in the home. Realized it was probably an issue of semantics anyway. Lol. And from all I've seen and heard they well worth the money. My G19 and G26 are exceedingly accurate, and do double duty as plinking/defense guns, so the FO's for the range with NS for defense is a perfect idea for me.

Have 3 sets on the way. :-) Thanks again!!
