Floor Plates!!! The K9 was bought new and traded in on a T9 with in a week. And I happen to walk in at the perfect time to pick it up for $349. Took it out this last weekend and shot it. Fantastic shooter. It came with 2 7rnd flush mags, and both have cracked the floorplate along the right side. 1 has actually broken and the spring went flying. Niether mag looks to have been dropped i.e no scuffs, scrape, gouges etc.etc. I shot with 5 rnds in each mag, for a 100 rnds or so no probs, then loaded them full. Slammed it home and it stovepiped the second round. I ejected the mag and when it hit the bench (8" drop) the floorplate flew off. Cleared the stovepipe and examined the second mag and noticed a hairline crack at the edge. Borrowed the range rental to examine their mags, and they are exactly the same. loaded my cracked one and the range mag and compared spring pressure, fit bulging etc, etc. Nothing different. It's just bad plastic in the floor plate. I wonder if they make metal?

Geez, nice deal on that K9. I haven't had any mag problems with my own K9, and I checked the floor plates for any signs of cracking, but luckily there weren't any. You may just have gotten some bad ones, as I don't recall seeing any other posts with the same problem.

Dottie called me back today and the floor plates are in the mail. She was interested in that I had 2 7rnd mags instead of a 7 adn a 8. I told her it was fine cause I perfer the shorter mag. I hardly ever use extended mags. And $349 was because it didn't have the orig 8 rnd mag, the dealer skimmed it for a customer before I igot to the pistol. I talked him down on price and an extra 7rnd mag. So I wonder if it was really worth the trouble of skimming it. oh well not my problem.
Yeah I think I may have. I have had this kind of crack/break on other mags the have the toungue and groove system for the floorplate just never on a Kahr. Thats why I wasn't terriblly concerned, as long as I could replace the floor plates.
I am very happy with it so far.

That's funny because I dropped mine repeatedly on the tarmac and gravel over 4 days of intense training and never had a problem...
I wonder if these cracks were the result of repeatedly SLAMMING them into the pistol...?

Or possibly, just possibly the fact that they're made of PLASTIC doesn't help things...?
Personally I would replace them with metal ones.
Heaven forbid you 'slammed' the mags in too hard when you really needed it.
