Help with Lasermax question?

I installed a new lasermax in my G22. I replaced the spring and slide lock with the one provided in the new box. Laser works fine but pressing in the switch from either side is very very hard. Only when I pull back on the slide a little does it become very easy to push in. Does anyone know if this is normal? Also do you think I could put back in the stock spring and use that with the new slide lock?

The slide release in laser on/off mode got easier to use with time, in my G-21. I've read that older units used to turn themselves on too often, during firing, so I guess this was the fix.

With regard to the recoil spring, the conventional wisdom seems to be, why not?

Do practice with the laser though!

Since the LaserMax units have a three year warranty, I plan to shoot 2500 rounds with it (just to earn my trust), then I'll do just what you're suggesting for most range practice.
