View Full Version : Lasermax durability question

I’m a new G-19 owner, and I have been saving up to buy a Lasermax. I have read on this board from various threads that their life expectancy is about 3,000 shots, and many users have reported problems with the battery cap wearing or breaking in as little as 500 shots. Yet, people still talk very favorably about them. So, is it me? Am I the only one that thinks a $300 item should last more then 3,000 shots? Please correct me if I have the info wrong.
I understand they come with a warranty, but I’m not going through warranty service every other trip to the range- that’s why I got the Glock in the first place- reliability. And yes, I am aware of CrimsonTrace, but I don’t want a different grip.
The LaserMax is reported to be a very durable unit. With nearly 2000 rounds on my G-21, it has worked just fine. The battery cap shows minimal wear and no sign of failure.
The warranty is 3-years and the company responsive...
Here's a LEO's opinion: http://www.commtechreview.net/lawsec/likglock.htm
I will likely purchase a G-19 today, and will add a LaserMax and X200B immediately.
After a reasonable trial of, say, 2500 rounds, I'll pop in the OEM rod/spring assembly for range practice on both guns.
I like the CT product too--but not on a Glock.

Thanks for the info. BTW, I think the link you wanted to post is actually..

Based on the wear you have seen so far, how many rounds would you expect to get out of your Lasermax? Why are you going to remove it for range time?

The other link had similar info in the guts of the text--but this is a quicker link to the laser thingy. Thanks!

Unknown--but at least 6000 on the existing "battery cap", based on wear YTD.

I consider the guide rod/spring assembly a consumable component, and I keep a spare as a replacement part; so I'd spare the laser the pounding.
I have also read that the LaserMax battery cap is considered a consumable component in heavy use weapons.
Further, by swapping them out, it's one less thing to clean!
I will occasionally make some practice shots with the LaserMax in place...
