Almost complete list of Drills:

In case anyone is interested, nandyan ang FAM Drills

http://www.kuci.org/~dany/firearms/all_drills.html

Somebody try the FAM drills and post your times
Mga IPSC'rs dapat may handicap , stronghand nalang hehe

Mga IPSC'rs dapat may handicap , stronghand nalang hehe

Using a stock, standard-issue handgun AND a real concealment holster
is all that's required to 'handicap' IPSC racers.

The "One Round" drill seems the hardest to me.
Everything else (more time overall and/or low-ready start) seems do-able.

:)

Allegra-- would you have the dimensions of the "bottle" of the FBI target? Very interesting link, thanks.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

haha mga ipsc syuters, di pala kayo marunong mag draw from concealment! Prod guns lang ha
Postal match anyone?
Who wants to post the results?

Pinaka challenging yung test ni Chuck Taylor
No handicap necessary

kasali ba mga idpa champs ng BoG? hahaha!

Calling gundog, single stacker, Mc0, taurus!

a QIT "bottle" target (in this case QIT-99)
23"x35"

While we're at it...

I never implied that IPSC racers don't know how to draw from concealment.
All I said was that the only 'handicap' required to level the playing field
(which is essentially what handicaps are for) was use of standard issue equipment.

Any claim that IPSC racers need more than such a 'handicap' is ultimately arrogance,
as if only IPSC racers can shoot swiftly and accurately.
I assure you it isn't so.

:)
Merry Christmas,

Well, I never implied non-ipsc'rs couldnt shoot fast and accurately either, though I have yet to see one hehe
Pero....a C class would probably ace that drill
Arrogance ? Maybe but I'm just stating what I've observed in my short career as a shooting enthusiast

Pa postal match kayo doc, project ng BOGS hehe
Basic drills lang na madali gayahin so other members could compare scores and malaman ang kailangan improve

Eye Cutter

that is a good idea. piliin natin ang mga drills to include in the postal match!

amoy away na naman, ah?! hahahaha! ;e joke lang!

majority of shooting enthusiasts who compete use up a lot, lot more rounds than those who don't. all things being equal, getting good in shooting is partly how many ammo you use up. volume shooting, like what gundog does, gagaling ka rin eventually! hahaha! that is to say na wala ka na bad habits like flinching, etc. ha? although it is more expensive, the more you shoot, the better you get to know the feel of the recoil and your gun's handling characteristics.

so i will agree with fafa allegra's observation.

hehe We were just trying to keep the forum more intersting :) pampataas ng rating kung baga

Hindi lang sa dami at quality ng practice in my observation
If we take two guys , give them the same amount of ammo and practice time, tapos yng isa mag compete the other hindi
Lumalabas mas magaling and mas mabilis improvement nung nagcocompete

Hindi lang naman sa shooting yan

Seconded.

Like any other activity or sport, constant (and correct) practice will help you a lot in perfecting your form. Someone who sends downrange tons of lead will definitely have an edge over another individual who only does dry firing drills and occasionally do some live fire on weekends.

As what we may have noticed, avid IPSC pistoleros like Rob Leatham, Brian Enos, and others in this league are always at the top of the heap in any discipline involving firearms i.e. IDPA, USPSA, Masters, etc. They may not be the overall champs but they usually end up in the top 5.

IIRC, Rob Leatham, when asked how often he does dryfire exercises answered: " Very seldom. I spend a lot of time in the gunrange so I have very little time to do dryfires."

One observation: I have particpated in some local matches with a variety of COFs from simple to complicated ones. Notably, in a very challenging COF, the gap in the scores of the skilled competitor against the mediocre ones, dramatically widens. Conversely, in a simple COF, the gap in the scores between the two is not so pronounced. Go figure.

Of course, as what Doc EC said, let us not forget Gundog when we mention the likes of Leatham, Enos, et al.;f

Curious as to why info that might be relevant to ALL shooters would be put in a (semi) foreign language forum within glocktalk when ALL GT members might benefit from the info????????

What do Air Marshal drills have do do specifically with Filipinos?

Why not post this in GNG??

Hi scowan :)
Why post a general-interest topic in a 'Filipino' forum?
Well... perhaps the thread-starter was interested in eliciting Filipinos'
responses and perspectives, but that's just a guess.

You do raise an interesting point.
:)

Allegra,

If it's 'spicing up' the thread that you were after...
Well, I never implied non-ipsc'rs couldnt shoot fast and accurately either
Why, then you know what it's like to your words misrepresented, ;)
though in my case, I didn't attribute anything directly to you.
Now, to quote you more fully:Well, I never implied non-ipsc'rs couldnt shoot fast and accurately either, though I have yet to see one hehe
(Although)....a C class would probably ace that drill
Arrogance ? Maybe but I'm just stating what I've observed in my short career as a shooting enthusiast Ah, so then you WERE implying it ;)
How many hundred?/thousand? shooters have you observed, Allegra?
As scowan's post shows, it isn't just the Philippine population
of shooters that's being involved in this thread, so you can't summarily presume IPSC supremacy.
IDPA, Paladin, and others seem better-geared (<--literally) towards
the FAM Q-drills you're flogging.

And besides...well,...
Er...well...
Ah-hehe hmmm. Okay.

**sigh**, I give up ;f
I tried to make an argument out of this ('to spice things up'),
but it's Christmas Eve, and all I really feel in me
are gratitude for God's love, and contemplation of the Christ-child's birthday.

Again, Merry Christmas!
Good luck with this online shoot.

I've seen enough dito sa atin and I dont think I want to see more hehe

Sa states...ewan ko , baka the stateside BOGS can relate what they see

Sa australasia we were squaded w/ an elite paratroop unit of an Asian country. Kangkungan sila finulot
Although I've heard magaling na sila ngayon ( of course, nag ipsc na eh :))

Let's make it simple , Fernando Alonso drives F1 cars
Kahit bigyan mo siya ng fx at ako naka isforts car, di pa rin ako manalo sa kanya, even though I drive everyday

or who swims faster , a lifeguard or a college varsity swimmer?

Bigla ako nakakita ng problema
Not everyone owns a timer ack! sana maka hiram lahat , you'll be surprised sa results

Ganda nga yung el pres , pero 7 yards lang distance and facing targets na agad
Then set a date when all results should be posted
Remember , the BOG postal match is for the newer members so they can monitor their improvement habang tumatagal and compare yung times and hits nila w/ the older shooters

Translation: In the 1990s when we didn't have a pro-timer yet, we contented ourselves with the use of a stopwatch. I think the majority of cellphones these days have stopwatches.

El Presidente

El Presidente was designed by Jeff Cooper as a rough benchmark of handgun skills. It is probably the most widely known handgun standard around.

Setup: three IPSC targets, spaced one yard apart, 10 yards distant.

Starting Position: gun holstered, spare magazine on belt, hands held above shoulders (surrender position), facing away (180 degrees) from targets.

Drill: At the signal, turn and draw, firing two shots into the A-zone of each target. Reload, and fire two more shots into each target.

IPSC comstock scoring. (score divided by time)
