My experience includes a set of old Ashley Outdoors Standard Dot iron sights, and Standard Dot 24/7s.
The sights are indeed fast. I must admit that I was disappointed when I picked up the 24/7s. The front sight had less white than the plain sight and the rear was tough to make out quickly in the daytime for vertical alignment.
I think that the Big Dot front sight with a non tritium rear may be perfect for me. What do other think with forgoing the tritium rear? It's not like I'm going to be making precision head shots at night, and the bright white standard rear would be faster for gaming and daytime work.

I have the 24/7 Big Dots and on my G29 and I really like them. I think they're really fast and I love them for concealed carry. I don't think I'd like them on anything that I'm shooting out past 25 yds with though. As far as the non tritium rear, I think most Glocks aren't long enough to benefit from just aiming with the front sight like a shotgun. For self defense, your natural point of aim should be good enough to hit someone relatively close, so you could get away with not being able to see your rear sight. I would go ahead and get them anyway, is it a big difference in cost?
I'm a big fan of XS Sights and have always used the Standard Dot tritium front/non-tritium rear.
When the 24/7 hit the market, I thought "Great, now I have tritium front and rear" and I bought a set (Standard Dot as well).
In using the 24/7s, I've found that I was slower with the tritium front and rear.
I got rid of them and went back to tritium front only.
Best
PS. I also like Leibster's (fellow GTer) SureSight product and will try them again when Revision 2 comes out.
BTW Grandfather Glock, I recently read an older thread (10-16-05)where you say you prefer Ameriglo Operators to XS Sights.
Just wondering why you've swung back to XS Sights?

Going with the plain rear isn't really a cost consideration--it's a speed consideration for the majority of conditions I will be using the pistol in.
Regarding the Ameriglo Operators, I believe they are perfect for someone who likes the 3 dot arrangement for low light. Personally, I think the vertical arrangement is faster.
With the XS Sights you have the same bar/dot configuration in any light condition. The sight picture of the Ameriglos changes when going from range conditions with a tan target (traditonal sight picture), to a self defense situation in medium light (put white dot on target and pull the trigger), to low light (3 floating dots). I definitely feel I will not be as accurate with the XS sights at distance, but that isn't my first concern in CCW use.
Thank you, sir.
I appreciate your thoughts.

Fitted a set of XS 24/7 Sights to a Glock 22. Front sight dislodged and unable to find it. Surface rust appeared on the rear sight. Contacted XS company and their product back up is exactly like their front sight on my Glock - NON existant....

I've got XS 24x7 Big Dots on a G19 and like it them lot. White is fine IMO in daylight. Tritium effect in dim light is by far my favorite vs several other Trijicon setups I have on other pistolas.
Five-0, I kinda wish I'd a tried the Std Dot Tritium though. The Big Dot rocks out to 10 yards and while moving and shooting but I do loose some accuracy out further vs a nice wide rear notch set up.
Should probably try some Std's.
Apprentice...yeah, I've tried both and decided to stick with Standards.
My accuracy suffered a little too much with the BigDot and I found that my speed was about the same for both.
We put the XS Big Dot set up on Judy's G19.
I agree with all observations made, but she's learned to shoot rather well with them, as have I, out to about ten yards, as mentioned.

I have a set of XS 24/7 on the Glock 20. They worked the best of the sights I tried under ALL LIGHT CONDITIONS. That big dot will show up when the white "washes out" and it is not dark enough for the Tritium. They may not be the most precise sights, but they are most visible under extreme conditions and are fast.
All sight designs are trade-offs and one must decided what is best for them.
I also have a sight of Bo-mars. Great precision, but only in daylight. They are on the Glock 21

This may sound silly, but I cut out a "big dot" front sight out of 3x5 card and stuck it to my Ameriglo Operator FS (I got out my calipers for accuaracy and drew in the base and the little tritium vial in the center--it looks pretty darn good). ;f I then put a sillouette on the wall in my basement with medium lighting. I tried both front sights back and forth for about 10 minutes. The Big Dot felt much faster and was easier to pick up. I saw plently of the "A" zone of the man sized IPSC/USPSA target out to 45 feet to feel comfortable to use these in my G19 for self defense or IDPA.
I had the standard dot 24/7s at one point and didn't feel that FS offered much of an advantage over a conventional tritium FS (The vial takes up a big portion of the white area on the standard dot).
Also, from what I understand, the Big Dot is .215" high which should put it right up to the top of an AAC Evolution-9 can.
A couple of years ago, XS had a slight design change. The result was a slightly smaller white portion on the front sights in relation to the tritium vial.
Before, the Standard size was perfect for me...now I find it a "tad" too small. I still prefer them to the BigDot though...I just wish XS wouldn't have changed anything.

Put the sights on and let them rip over the course of 400 rounds from 15 to 50ft.
They were perfect for their intended role.
I can now actually see the FS on the second shot of a fast double tap or for Mozambique drills.
At 50ft I tried to put the dot right in the center of the bullseye, and my groups were 4-5 inches. I then used the tip of the FS method just like a conventional FS and got my groups down to 2.5" at 50ft with Big Dot sights!
I was a bit skeptical at first, but after a few hundred rounds I went into "Jedi mode" and tore up the targets. My speed was subjectively much faster with the Big Dot FS.
BTW, I went with tritium only on the front sight for two reasons.
1. I index pretty well and the one dot out front helps me to confirm that I'm on target.
2. The rear sight on the 24/7 can be difficult to see quickly in daylight from my experience with 24/7 sets.
I went with the Big Dot because I've used the Standard dot tritium, and there is so little white around the tube that it becomes difficult to see quickly.
I'm very impressed at this point. Will try them on bowling pins in about 10 days.

I've got the same setup on my Para. I really like the "dot the i" over the 3 dot. YMMV

Must know... Bowling pin thingy, must know in 10-days... ;g

I've gone 5 for 5 on bowling pins at 25 yards with my A/O G-17.
Wasn't racing the clock like I would be with the pins at 25 feet.
EASY......at 25 feet....don't worry.
