Hi Guys

Maybe someone can help me on this situation.I Just recently purchased a brand new Ruger 2 1/2 Alaskan Redhawk 480 and after lubing and cleaning very well i shot a box of hornandy ammunition at my local range.Everything went well with the shooting part of it, but when it was time to reload, the empty shells would not come out of the cylinder, after 10 minutes of trying to figure out a way to get the empty shells to come out. i had to ram the the ejection rod to the wall of the gun range to eject the shells out,Is there another way that this can be done without puting my new gun through this strain?I have already gone through 2 boxes of Hornady 325grain 480ruger rounds and still experiencing the same effects. If anyone has any ideas or is experiencing the same situation please reply.

Thanx again for taking your time to read this post

sigs&glocks,

It looks like you've found all of the companies that make 480 Ruger. Hornady developed the round with Ruger, so it's natural they'd make it. I am surprised that Speer makes it.

Buffalo Bore makes great stuff, if you can afford it! My wife carries their .38 Special +P in her S&W 60LS.

You also might want to get a bore brush, chuck it in a drill, take a little OOO steel wool and get a little wrapped around the bristles and run it in and out of the cylinder to polish the the chambers a little.

+1

Another little trick is to take a 20 Ga. cloth mop and coat it with fine lapping compound and insert it into a cordless drill and run it in and out of the chambers. Then wash the cylinder out in clean Kerosene and blow dry with compressed air. I had a stubborn chamber in my Ruger .30 Carbine Blackhawk and this method worked well. Bill T.

Mothers Metal Polish and a cotton bore brush chucked up in a drill will solve your problem. Keep up this process until sticking problem goes away.

Only use steel wool on a blued revolver! Steel wool can start a real mess of corrosion in a stainless firearm as it contaminates the stainless with carbon steel = lots of rust issues.

Try a felt tip with Flitz polish. ;)

i had the exact same problem with a ruger super redhawk .454 7 1/2" bbl. sent it back to ruger twice once with empty shells still in cylinder. they failed to fix the problem...good luck

forgot to mention ammo was winchester factory. tried a couple of other factory loads also...can't remember which ones right now. always the same result. the .45 long colts worked fine though.

INTRESTING! But it seem to me if you dont leave any carbon steel in the SS your home free!like a good cleaning or preping .
yeh see here!
